Many athletes go through their sporting career without ever reaching their full potential. Many realize that being a successful athlete requires more than just practicing the necessary skills for their sport. How is Success Defined? Success is the ability of the athlete to achieve a high level of performance every time they are in a competitive situation. It is the ability to consistently produce their best performance day after day and to continually improve. It is also the ability to maintain a high level of performance when faced with various challenges whether from within or from an external source. Success is achieving goals and then formulating longer term goals to be achieved. Success is often defined by an athlete's results over their career. Success in sports should not be defined by monetary gain. Remember that the key to success is consistency. It is also being able to enjoy what you are doing in your sport.

How to be successful - First of all the athlete should set goals and know where he or she wants to go within their sport. Without goals, you have nothing to achieve and progress. These goals need to be specific to your sport and realistic. Set goals for the short, intermediate and long term. Each time you achieve one of these goals then you have been successful. Be disciplined in everything you do. Be disciplined in arriving early for practice, having your equipment ready and in working order, following through on your designated tasks for each day, and setting the standard for others around you to follow your high expectations. If faced by cheating or confrontational opponents, the athlete is disciplined enough not to retaliate and lose their focus.

Evaluate your goals on a daily basis as well as your performance. Learn that some days are better than others but are not a sign of permanent deteriorating performance levels. Self-belief is essential. You have to believe in what you are doing. Be honest with yourself and assess how your are going with achieving your goals. You must have fun and enjoy what you are doing. You have to love what you are doing. You understand the importance of rest and recovery. The athlete understands that they need to take periodic breaks from their sport. Self-discipline is a key component to being successful. Having the discipline to do whatever you have to and make what ever sacrifices necessary to perform at your best when in competition. Many athletes are successful without making a living from their sport.

Krasnaya Polyana is unique in its picturesque combination of mountains, forests, lakes and rivers. Our world is full of changes. Every week new things come out and we have to follow them. Young people are more lucky, because they have interest to all new things. They are more flexible and they can remember new information very fast. Elder people prefer to use the knowledge they have got before. And sometime it can be a problem. Nowadays digital technologies develop very fast and they help us in all levels of our life.

In general I think that digital literacy is the key to success in any occupation. We spend 50% of time working. Today almost for any type of job we have to use tablets, computers or phones. It’s very comfortable if you need to send a message, make a picture or video, use some apps or programs. It seems very easy to me, but for some people it can be difficult even to call a friend from a mobile phone.

Digital literacy is also useful in our daily life. With internet today you can do everything. We can book a ticket, find a hotel, buy clothes, food and even organize a vacation. Honestly I can not imagine my life without modern technologies and all the knowledge.

Some people prefer to stay far away from modern technologies and I can understand them. Basically these are the people who were born before all these technologies have become popular. The thing is they don’t understand that our life becomes digital and in future people will use technologies a lot.

My point of view is a successful person needs to have digital skills. It will help you to succeed in career and in your life in general. It’s also important to develop these skills everyday. There is always something new to learn and discover. I want people start to enjoy their life more and take any advantage to make their life more interesting and easier.

Наш мир полон перемен. Каждую неделю появляется что-то новое и мы должны адаптироваться к этим новинкам. Молодым людям везёт больше, ведь у них постоянно есть интерес к любым новшествам. Они более гибкие и запоминают новую информацию очень быстро. Люди постарше предпочитают пользоваться знаниями, которые они приобрели уже давно. И порой это может быть проблемой. Сегодня цифровые технологии развиваются достаточно быстро и они помогают нам во многих сферах жизни.

Цифровая грамотность также полезна и для повседневной жизни. Сегодня с интернетом вы можете сделать очень многое. Мы можем забронировать билет, найти отель, купить одежду, еду и даже организовать отпуск. Честно говоря, я даже не могу представить свою жизнь без современных технологий и всех этих знаний.

Некоторые люди предпочитают быть подальше от современных технологий и я могу понять их. В основном, это люди, которые родились до появления всех технологий и этой популярности на них. Проблема в том, что эти люди не понимают, что наша жизнь становится постепенно цифровой и в будущем люди будут использовать современные технологии ещё чаще.

Моя точка зрения заключается в том, что успешному человеку нужны цифровые навыки. Они помогут вам преуспеть в карьере и в жизни вообще. А ещё важно развивать эти навыки ежедневно. Ведь всегда есть что-то новое и не познанное. Я бы хотела, чтобы люди начали наслаждаться жизнью больше и пользовались любой возможностью, сделать ее ярче и интереснее.

Это одна из самых важных статей в нашем блоге, хоть она даже не про английский. Lifelong Learning — это более широкая концепция. Она настолько глобальна, что заслуживает стать вашим кредо, вашим жизненным правилом, частью вас. Мы с вами уже застали смерть многих профессий: колесник, водовоз, фонарщик, телефонист, трубочист, человек-будильник… Вымирание еще многих профессий мы с вами рискуем застать при жизни: таксист, дальнобойщик, кассир, почтальон, библиотекарь, турагент…

К чему это все? К тому, что знания и навыки в 21 веке теряют актуальность быстрее, чем когда-либо ранее. Поэтому обучаемость выходит на первый план. Возможно, это прозвучало жестко. Мы не хотели вас пугать. Просто хотели донести важность самообразования.

Чему учит Lifelong Learning

Учеба не заканчивается после школы/университета. Вся наша жизнь — сплошное непрерывное обучение. Во всяком случае должна быть такой.
Каждый сам ответственен за собственный уровень образования. Оно должно быть добровольным, но каждый должен понимать его важность.
Освоение новых навыков не обязательно требует наставника или преподавателя. Можно заниматься самообразованием.
Непрерывная учеба — неотъемлемый навык для жизни современного человека. Уметь учиться — так же важно, как уметь читать или пользоваться интернетом.
Самообразование должно быть бескорыстным и добровольным. Вы делаете это не для того, чтобы найти хорошую работу. Не для того, чтобы получить повышение. Вы это делаете для себя, просто потому что это важно. Образование — не средство, а цель .

Под learning может подразумеваться:

Получение полноценного высшего образования
Прохождение курсов
Самостоятельное освоение новых навыков (фотография, программирование, черчение, ремонт).
Изучение языков
Изучение нового в своей профессиональной сфере
И так далее

Важно, что вы должны именно практиковаться в чем-то, а не просто изучать теорию. Вот пример. Представьте мужчину лет 35. Он работает стоматологом, но любит садоводство. Это навеевает стоматологу ностальгию по лету у бабушки в деревне. Он читает статьи, смотрит видео про выращивание помидоров на ютубе. Это такое увлечение, и это замечательно. Однако чтобы это считалось за самообразование, важно практиковаться. В нашем случае — обустроить себе небольшую грядку и начать выращивать в ней эти самые помидоры.

Nowadays the question of the importance of digital literacy in making a successful career causes great argument. Some people believe that computer skills are necessary for today's employee, while others think that it is not that important. Who is right?

In my opinion, digital literacy plays a great role in your successful and long-term career. The first thing that needs to be said is that nowadays most of the jobs include working on a computer. Another good thing about this is that all the work information is now saved on computers in order to make an employee’s work easier. Moreover, employers value the specialists who have non-basic computer skills, because it proves the improvement of their analytical and professional skills.

Perhaps we should also point out the fact that there is an opposite opinion on this idea.

The main reason for that is that not all the professions are connected with computers. For example, artists, musicians, dancers, actors, athletes and others do not necessary need to have digital literacy skills, because in their occupation another skills are valued higher. What is more, if you are the only professional in the sphere that doesn’t include working on a computer; you will definitely be successful in your occupation.

I find it difficult to agree with this point of view, because in today’s modern technology world working without computer is hard. First of all, employers prefer to employ highly-qualified specialists with computer skills, rather than those, do not even have the basic skills. Taking everything into consideration, I would like to say that it is up to everybody to decide whether computer skills provide you with the successful occupation or not, but, in my opinion, digital literacy, because of the technology development in today’s modern technology world, is highly important for anyone who wants to make a successful career.
