An ideal teacher
Who’s an ideal teacher? What qualities should a human have to be a good one? What are the most important things the good teacher can’t be without? All these questions are eternal and people of all times tried to answer them. Sir Donald D. Quinn, the famous scientist once said: “If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job.” I can’t but agree with him. Teaching profession is one of the most difficult ones in different aspects.
A good teacher should encourage and inspire his/her pupils to think beyond their confines and help them to realize their talents as well as the need to pursue them with diligence. An ideal teacher is a true builder of the nation, he builds an everlasting impression on the minds of his students. The hardworking and hard task masters are always remembered and loved by the students later.
The most important characteristic of a teacher is patience. Teacher should never lose his patience in class when students ask question repeatedly. He should explain each and every aspect of the topic in the easiest way. Before going into the class a good teacher will always prepare the lecture thoroughly. Then he can clear all confusion of the students and feel confidence in the class.
The other important treat is competence in this or that subject. A good teacher is a master, he is ready to answer on everything the students need. To be self competent a teacher should be up to date with all the new technologies in his or her educational sphere, use the Internet in the work, attend seminars and self educate himself. I’m a teacher already and use modern technologies in my work, search for the interesting information on the Internet every day, use a lot of demonstrative posters, newsparers, magazines,films about English speaking countries. But at the same time we can’t deny that every teacher is a unique one and has his own character ( some of them are strict and authoritarian, others are gentle and kind) and methods of teaching. It’s difficult to say who is better a strict and cruel teacher or kind and liberal one. However probably students of strict teachers have better results. But it’s just in theory. Their studying results maybe much better but what about their minds? They learn because they are frightened, not because they want to know. At the same time students of kind teachers don’t want to do anything, they “feel” that a teacher is not strict , he’s not an authority, so why study? Why should they obey? So as you can see it’s important to find “a happy medium”. But it’s easier said than done and it’s almost impossible when you have no experience ,high level of knowledge and some managing abilities.
To sum it up I’d like to notice that teaching is certainly a noble profession but we need to be passionate about it. Love and patience should guide us whatever we do. When you have love and passion for your subject and teaching you will automatically forget the line dividing between the teacher and the taught. You try to explain anything by placing yourself into a student’s place. Your soul aim then becomes making a topic clear to the student in every and any possible way. You have to pass on interest and passion to the student.

My teacher of English is my favorite teacher. English teacher in my class is a middle-aged woman with a very kind smile. She is cute and intelligent. Moreover, she is really helpful and supportive. When I have difficulties in understanding some complicated grammar topics, she always explains it to me individually after the lessons.
Моя преподавательница по английскому языку – мой любимый учитель. Моя учительница — женщина средних лет с очень доброй улыбкой. Она очень милая и образованная. Когда у меня проблемы с пониманием какой-то грамматической темы, она всегда объясняет мне ее индивидуально после уроков.
Moreover, she tries to make English lessons more interesting for us. We do not only learn vocabulary or do some grammar exercises. Very often we have interactive lessons, where our teacher tries to give us more facts about England. For example, when we had a lesson about traditions in Great Britain we drank tea and ate some national dishes. At the same time, everyone told about one specific tradition. It was really interesting!
It is important to mention that pupils in our school know English at a quite sophisticated level and demonstrate great results. When I visited England I could even communicate with the native speakers.

I love my teacher of English very much. English lessons are one of the best in our school. Unfortunately, we have English only twice a week. I always look forward to them. I hope that one day my English be as fluent as my teacher`s. This is one of my ambitions. I believe that the role of teachers in our life not only to teach but also make a subject interesting for pupils. My teacher of English could do it!

Kindergarten, school, university. We are all surrounded by teachers who make a great influence on our life. They bring motivation and inspiration for some students, for others they are a source of neglection and disappointment. Nevertheless, every teacher gives a piece of his soul to his students and leads them to the world of knowledge.
I'm deeply convinced that all teachers in my life were of great importance. I had absolutely different teachers, but one of them has a special place in my heart. Her name is Maria Alexandrovna and she was my English teacher. I met her for the first time when I was in the 8th form. It was my first English lesson in a new school. I wasn't good at languages at that time and I didn't want to be in the classroom. Moreover, she was about 60 or 65 and she seemed really old to me. But it was just an appearance and as they say, appearance is deceptive.
I gradually understood that she was the best teacher I'd ever had. Maria Alexandrovna was a nice and very polite woman. She was in love with her job and the language that she taught incredibly. She was so inspiring for her students that it was a shame to appear not ready for a lesson. Furthermore, she was the only teacher in our school who treated us as adults and expressed respect to us in any situation.
The brightest moment of my education at school is also connected with her. She inspired us to write to some organization in English to tell about our class and our wish to study, and to our surprise, we received an answer with a parcel full of books and other teaching materials. We were so proud of ourselves and so sure that we can achieve whatever we want.
So, talking about teachers I can claim that what goes round comes around. The teacher who treated me with respect and love had the same from me in return. I can't even express how thankful I am and how much I appreciate her hard work.

It is not easy to decide what profession to choose. Usually, pupils’ plans for the future change many times during the school years. There are so many people who influence you in choosing your occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in your choice. Teachers’ influence on pupils’ minds is also great.
My favourite subject is English. And I think this is my teacher who made it so. I understand the importance of knowledge of a foreign language. It enables people from different countries to communicate with each other, to read foreign literature in the original, to broaden their outlooks.
So I decided for myself to become a teacher of English. Of course, I know that it is not easy and takes much patience and effort. A teacher has to know how to teach, how to make difficult things understandable, how to get students interested in the subject. And of course a teacher ought to have perfect knowledge of his subject. I think the ideal teacher is the one who can combine all these. My present teacher is just like this. She is a great specialist and also a nice personality. I hope in future I can become as good teacher as she is.
