Every young person worries about choosing the future profession. Some people claim that they should follow their parents’ example, while others argue that career choice is an individual subject.
In my opinion, children should not choose their parents’ profession. To start with, children have unique talents and abilities, which they can guide to creative activity. The youth would not achieve their potential in some area if they choose mum’s or dad’s profession. Additionally, the life satisfaction depends on passion for an employment. If a young person follows in parents’ footsteps without a desire, he will be unhappy. Consequently, a person will not be making efforts in his work, which affects productivity and quality.
However, there is another opinion.
Some think parents are smarter and wiser than their kids, therefore young people should take an example from them. Adults have gained stability in life and they can give advice to children in some professional field.
I do not agree with this point of view, because living by the parents’ guidance deprives people of important experience. If a person gets troubles, he will not be able to solve them independently. Making life mistakes is unpleasantly but this is what builds a strong character.
To sum up, young people should not follow in the footsteps of parents in the case of a career. Although a family can have a voice in a one’s future, I am convinced he must choose his own way.

My parents are very hardworking people. They have been working since I was a child. I spent my childhood in the country with my grandparents. That happened because my mom and dad wanted to give me the best future and I think they succeed.
My mom is a teacher at school. I know that she likes her job and does it very well. Children respect her and other parents ask her for advice. Of course she spends a lot of time at work and she is busy all the time but I am really proud of her.
She is a teacher of Russian language and literature. She read many books and can give a good advice. We have a huge library at home and I like to read these books sometime. She can always help me with homework but actually she is a strict teacher. Because she is very hardworking person she wants to see her pupils the same way.
Many times I thought that the best profession for my mom is to be a psychologist. She can listen and help only with one conversation.
My dad is a bank worker. Honestly I don’t know the actual name of his profession. But his working day can last 12-14 hours. His job is very responsible and difficult I think. You have to be concentrated all the time about money and count. I go to his bank from time to time and we have lunch together.
Even if he is at home he receives many calls. As you can see he continues to work even at home.
I am very thankful to my parents for everything they are doing for me. I am not sure if I am going to follow my parents’ steps, because their jobs look to me to much difficult.

Мои родители очень трудолюбивые люди. Они работают с того момента, когда я была ещё совсем маленькой. Я провела своё детство с дедушкой и бабушкой. Так получилось, потому что мои родители хотели дать мне лучшее будущее и я считаю, что у них это получилось.
Моя мама работает учителем в школе. Я знаю, что она любит свою работу и прекрасно справляется с ней. Дети ее уважают, а родители спрашивают совет. Конечно, она проводит много времени за работой и постоянно занята, но я безумно горжусь ей.
Она - учитель русского языка и литературы. Она прочла много книг и может дать хороший совет. У нас дома огромная библиотека и я иногда читаю ее книги. Она мне часто помогает с домашними заданиями, но вообще она строгий учитель. От того, что она очень усердная, такими же она хочет видеть и своих учеников.
Много раз я думала, что она могла бы быть отличным психологом. Она умеет слушать и от одного разговора с ней, становится лучше.
Мой папа - работник банка. Честно говоря, я не знаю точного названия его должности. Его рабочий день длится 12-14 часов. У него трудная и ответственная работа. Ты должен быть сконцентрирован на деньгах и счете постоянно. Иногда я прихожу в банк и мы с папой обедаем вместе.
Даже дома ему звонят по работе. И как вы поняли, он работает и дома.
Я очень благодарна моим родителям за все, что они делают для меня. Не знаю, пойду ли я по их стопам, ведь их работа кажется мне слишком сложной.

There is an opinion that young people should choose the same career path that their parents did. However, there are people who are convinced that one’s career choice should not depend on their parents’ occupations. In this essay, I would like to express my point of view on this issue.
To my mind, young people must choose a job for themselves. First, their parents’ job might not suit them. They can have different personalities, abilities and desires. Second, the occupation could be obsolete, and children would be better off choosing a new job they like that is in high demand.
Some people believe that youngsters should carry on their family tradition. They can be taught by parents at an early age, graduate from the same university as their parents, and run the family business.
Despite the good prospects, I cannot agree with this idea. When young people make their career choice under pressure, they usually do not succeed at work. They often resent their parents because they weren’t able to realize their own dreams.
All in all, I am convinced that young people should not follow in their parent’s footsteps if they do not feel passionate about it. Also, parents should not push their children to do so.

Во-первых, работа их родителей может не подходить им. У них могут быть разный характер, способности и желания. Во-вторых, профессия может быть устаревшей, и детям было бы лучше выбрать новую понравившуюся им работу, которая пользуется большим спросом.
Некоторые люди считают, что молодежь должна продолжать семейные традиции. Они могут обучаться под руководством родителей с раннего возраста, окончить тот же университет, что и их родители, и вести семейный бизнес.
Несмотря на хорошие перспективы, я не могу согласиться с этой идеей. Когда молодые люди выбирают карьерный путь под давлением, они обычно не преуспевают на работе. Они часто обижаются на своих родителей из-за того что не смогли реализовать свои мечты.
В общем, я убежден, что молодые люди не должны идти по стопам своих родителей, если они не испытывают страсти к этому. Кроме того, родители не должны заставлять своих детей делать это.
My Mother is a teacher of Maths at my school, so we often see each other during the breaks. She conducts lessons and gives the children hometasks. She likes working with children and her job in general very much as she is very kind and patient.
My father is a journalist. He writes texts for the news for one of our national channels. It's a very interesting job as he visits a lot of interesting places and takes a lot of photos.

My Parents' Professions
My parents have always been my role models. They work hard and they love what they do. My father is a ship captain and my mother is a housewife.
My dad always wanted to become a seaman. In his chilhood he read books about sea adventures. After school he entered a naval school and later he graduated from the State Maritime Academy. Dad has been working for 15 years. He says he was seasick at first, but not very long. When dad goes to sea he can be away for months. It is a sad time for mum and me, but then dad comes home and he spends a lot of time with us. He sometimes brings cool things for me such as a compass or binoculars. Dad tells us stories about his voyages and I like to listen to him.
Dad loves his job and one of the reasons for it is that he knows how much my mum and I love him and wait for him. As I have written already, mum is a housewife. I think she is the best mother in the world and a very good housekeeper. She cooks very well and she always keeps our house clean and tidy.
My parents say that a person needs to love his or her profession and do this job well. I have not chosen my future profession yet, but I know how important it is to find something that I will do with pleasure, just like my mum and dad.
