Глобальные проблемы человечества
Modern society is a complicated system affected by various processes – natural, political, economic, and cultural. It is constantly changing, and calm periods alternate with turbulent ones: wars, financial crises, or epidemics. Unfortunately, it is impossible to live in a serene and safe world, so the humanity faces many problems. Some of them have local character (for example, the lack of fresh water in Australia or the overpopulation in China), while the others are global and concern everyone.
Современное общество – это сложная система, на которую влияют различные процессы – природные, политические, экономические и культурные. Она постоянно изменяется, и спокойные периоды чередуются с бурными: войнами, финансовыми кризисами или эпидемиями. К сожалению, невозможно жить в безмятежном и безопасном мире, поэтому человечество сталкивается с многими проблемами. Некоторые из них имеют локальный характер (например, нехватка пресной воды в Австралии или перенаселение в Китае), в то время как другие глобальны и касаются всех.
In my opinion, the main global problem is the ecological crisis: now all our civilization is endangered. The planet suffers from harmful emissions, waste burial, forest cutting, and the draining of rivers. However, it is a threat to people as well: breaking ecological balance, we arouse natural disasters, remain without clean air, water, food, and spoil the climate.
На мой взгляд, главная глобальная проблема – экологический кризис: сейчас в опасности вся цивилизация. Планета страдает от вредных выбросов, захоронения отходов, вырубки лесов и осушения рек. Однако это представляет угрозу и для людей: нарушая экологический баланс, мы вызываем стихийные бедствия, остаёмся без чистых воздуха, воды, пищи, портим климат.
Global problems tied with health (inherited diseases, AIDS, and cancer) also depend on the ecological situation. Besides, often their key reason is the unhealthy lifestyle of modern mankind, especially in cities.
Глобальные проблемы, связанные со здоровьем (наследственные заболевания, СПИД, рак) также зависят от экологической ситуации. Кроме того, часто их ключевой причиной является нездоровый образ жизни современного человечества, особенно в городах.
Political and social global problems are even more obvious. Military conflicts and the arms race are among them, as well as the threat of terrorism and religious wars. A large number of African and Asiatic nations still struggle against poverty, famine, mass illiteracy caused by low life standard. In some countries, including Russia, society tries to deal with alcohol and drugs addictions, with developed criminal world.
It is necessary to mention less destructive, but urgent problems: unemployment, corruption, intolerance towards minorities. I suppose that unity of humanity, cultural and economic dialogue can help to fight global problems.
Необходимо упомянуть менее разрушительные, но актуальные проблемы: безработицу, коррупцию, нетерпимость к меньшинствам. Думаю, что единство человечества, культурный и экономический диалог могут помочь в борьбе с глобальными проблемами.
Science is the first thing to be financed in the modern world
Our world has been changed a lot. Modern technologies give us opportunity to pay when you are at home, to talk to your family when you are far away and even to travel to the moon. I think it’s really good and there is new progress every day. People start to pay more attention to science and new technologies and it’s correct.
For all these 2000 years we have reached a lot. Because in past people were curious today we have mobile phones, computers, cars and washing machines. All these things made our life easier. And we don’t have to stop. I think we have to explore more and more. Science is the first thing to be financed in the modern world. The more we invest in science today the more breakthroughs we will have tomorrow. There are many smart people around and they need possibility to develop their skills and make new researches.
Unfortunately the government doesn’t really think so. We spend a lot of money in politics, economics and other things. People are sure that there are things much more important. We build new fabrics, when the old ones can be renew. We invest a lot of money in useless things like fashion or variety art instead of learning new things.
So I think that science can give us more than anything else. With correct financing we will have one day cure for cancer, environmentally friendly cars and many other things. I hope in future people will pay more attention to science. To make our world better in future we have to start today. Less pollution, more attention to our health, more respect to nature and ourselves will give us a chance to improve our life. I see our future full of new discoveries and inventions. And I am sure that our children will be happy with all of them one day.
Наука - это первое, что будет финансироваться в современном мире
Наш мир сильно изменился за эти годы. Современные технологии дают вам возможность оплачивать счета, когда вы сидите дома; разговаривать с членами своей семьи, если вы далеко друг от друга и даже путешествовать на Луну. Я считаю, что это здорово, а новые открытия происходят каждый день. Люди начинают обращать больше внимания на науку и новые технологии. И по-моему, это правильно.
За эти 2000 лет человечество многого добилось. А так как в прошлом люди были очень любопытными, сегодня у нас есть мобильные телефоны, компьютеры, автомобили и стиральные машины. Все эти вещи сделали нашу жизнь гораздо легче. И нам нельзя останавливаться. Я считаю, что мы должны продолжать исследования. Наука - это первое, что должно быть профинансировано в современном мире. Чем больше мы инвестируем сегодня в науку, тем больше открытий мы совершим завтра. Вокруг так много умных людей и им нужна возможность развивать свои навыки и проводить новые исследования.
К сожалению, правительство не совсем согласно с этим. Мы тратим много денег на политику, экономику и на другое. Люди считают, что существуют вещи куда важнее, чем наука. Мы строим новые фабрики, хотя, можно обновить старые. Мы вкладываем много денег в бесполезное, например, в индустрию моды или современную эстраду вместо новых открытий.
Итак я считаю, что наука может дать нам больше, чем что-либо другое. Профинансировав ее, мы однажды найдём лекарство от рака, изобретем экологически чистые авто. Надеюсь в будущем, люди обратят внимание на науку ещё больше. Чтобы сделать наш мир лучше в будущем, мы должны начать уже сегодня. Меньше загрязнений, больше внимания нашему здоровью, больше уважения природе и самим себе дадут нам шанс сделать жизнь лучше. Я вижу наше будущее полным новых открытий и изобретений. И я уверена, что наши дети однажды будут довольны тем, что мы делаем сейчас.
People have been fighting with each other since beginning of the civilization mostly to get new territories and more land. (Люди сражались друг с другом с начала цивилизации главным образом, чтобы получить новые территории и больше земли.)
Today, there are more global problems which can be divided into two categories: ecological problems and social, economic and political issues. Global Problems of Humanity
Humanity has a lot of problems. Most of them are local and do not affect the global community but there are a few global issues. A global issue is an issue that affects every country in the world. People can clearly define them, however they are still not solved. One of the greatest challenges of our time is solving global problems.
The United Nations is the organization that defines these problems and takes measures to solve them. The United Nations is an example of cooperation of the world-leading countries. They want to make our world a better place.
So, what global issues do they solve? First, it is global warming. Our industrial activity causes a rise in the average temperature. It means that an average summer or winter day nowadays is warmer than it was a hundred years ago. Global warming is dangerous because it can cause ice melting. If glaciers melt, the sea level will rise, and most coastal cities and islands will be drowned.
Second, it is human impact on the environment. In some cities air pollution reached the point where it is dangerous for human health. Our plants, factories, cars produce a lot of CO2 and various pollutants.
Third, overpopulation. The population of our planet is 7.8 billion now, which is almost 8 times as much as it was two hundred years ago. It will keep growing, and the planet might just not be able to sustain that many inhabitants in the future. Overpopulation causes multiple problems including poverty. Did you know that 42 percent of people from Sub-Saharan Africa still live below the poverty line? The international poverty line is 1.9 dollars per day. People cannot fulfill their basic needs such as food, water and clothing.
These are the most discussed global problems nowadays. Their list might increase but all the problems are being worked on. Some countries decided to switch to alternative energy sources in the nearest future. Most countries at least recognize the problems.
