Alex and his daughter, Ann was walking by recently brought amusement. On a park scene where the festival took place were foreign musical groups. People were dancing and singing along to their favorite music hits. Ann saw a new Ferris wheel and asked his father if she could join in. When they rose to the height of the bird's flight, the wheel suddenly stopped. All passengers were fearful and some of them, including Ann began crying. Fortunately, the wheel was fixed after an hour and all passengers were saved. Ann was so scared, what she asked her dad to drive home.

Max was really heartbroken. His friend remembered how granddad was fixing his boat.” I'll be right back”-said he happily. «Can you throw some light where you decided to go?”-asked Max. However, Alex was too far to listen, he was rushing to the forest.
He decided to find gummy tree and a few moment later he saw it. ”Yes”-he whispered. Unfortunately he didn’t saw a hunter's trap…
Alex became as white as a sheet, because he can’t move his leg. That why he decided yelling to Max. When, he’s classmate arrived, they opened the trap. “Thank goodness”-he exclaimed. Alex will forever keep in mind how his friend saved him.

His friend remembered how hard learning the musical instrumental play for him was.
He decides to find ice cream tent to cheer his friend. But the owner was rude and gave them the wrong ice cream. So, these two boys were the only visitors, who leave this park with bad tempered.

One evening while I was on holiday with my parents, we went for a long drive in the mountains above the city.

Next thing there were rocks and stones rolling down the mountains. "Oh no," my mother cried," "it's an earthquake."
It was all over in a few seconds and luckily our car wasn't hit by anything. The road was covered in rocks but we decided to return to our accommodation immediately. It took us some time to navigate around the rocks. We finally arrived back at our hotel, exhausted and anxious. We were so relieved to be back. Mum looked at me and said, laughing: "I thought we were coming on holiday, not to disaster zone!"

You know when you get that feeling that something terrible is about to happen? Well, on my way to the carnival last week, I felt extremely nervous and worried for absolutely no reason at all. "Oh, you've nothing to worry about," my friend Anne said.
It was getting dark when we reached the carnival. We wandered around the stalls, admiring the beautiful and colourful floats. There were hundreds of people around. "I'm thirsty," I said, "let's get some cola." It was only then that I realised my purse had been stolen. All my money was gone. I wanted to cry because I was so upset. Then, I began to shake uncontrollably as I remembered how uneasy I had felt before going to the carnival that day! "Let's go home," Anne said.
When we got home, I checked my bag again. I still couldn't find my purse. 'If only we hadn't gone to the carnival!' Next time I have a strange feeling I will stay home.

It was a perfect, sunny day. Being on holidays, I was reading a lot and one day I saw an advertisement about a trip along the Thames. I decided to go on this cruise, because I am crazy about sightseeing foreign attractions. Now, I think it would be better if I did not see it.
In my opinion, I would admire beautiful buildings, but unfortunately everything went wrong! Firstly, the excursion organizers had mentioned in their ad, that the price for this trip would be 20 pounds, however when l got in, the ticket counter told me that I have to pay 35 pounds. How disappointing. But it was only the beginning of wrong things I’ll have. Secondly, during the cruse I had mentioned that my cruise boat sailed too fast, so I could not enjoy the view of the Tower of London and the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Finally, after we had reached the Kew Pier, the captain of our ship announced that the ship had broken. So, I and other passengers had to get off on the Richmond Station. What could I do in this situation? The check taker refused to return my money back and I have to go home by foot without money, with bad tempered mood.
Meanwhile when I was walking home, someone called me by name. It was my school friend, who I had not seen for 3 years. It was the only bright side of this day.

Ann and her parents went to Miami last year. They had a wonderful time there. And on the last days of their holiday they decided to sail round the Caribbean Sea in their boat for one week. While their sailing, they saw a large group of whales. Ann and her mum and dad were very excited. Unfortunately, the whales began to hit the side of the boat. Suddenly, water started flooding in, and the travelers realized that they were in trouble. They quickly jumped into the lifeboat while the boat was sinking and watched it disappear under the sea. Fortunately, they had enough food and water during twenty days. They also had a fishing line and a machine which made salt water into drinking water. These two things helped them to survive while their terrible experience. For the next fifty days, they caught about ten fish a day and ate them raw. They saw about twenty ships, but although they waved and shouted during the ships were passing, nobody saw them. After many other days, a fishing boat rescued them. The disastrous holiday was over.

What a day!
One day, three weeks ago, Terry decided to take his pet snake out for a walk. He put his beloved snake into the basket and drove to a local park.
He played with his pet for a while there. Then Terry thought it was a great place to read his favourite book. He read it for 15 minutes. After that Terry grabbed the basket and returned home. When he decided to check of his snake though, it wasn’t in the basket! Terry panicked at first, then decided to hop into his car and drive back to the park. He looked everywhere for his pet, searching every corner.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to find it, so he decided to call the police. When they arrived, officers warned locals about the missing snake. Everyone was scared and left the park. Terry and the police force were searching for the snake. It was getting late, therefore Terry lost hope. He drove back home alone and sad.
When he parked, he noticed something on the car floor. It was his snake! He was so happy to finally find it!

Spotlight on Russia hears from two young Russians from very different parts of the country
Hi. My name is Sergey Demidov and I’m 13 years old. I live in Yakutsk which is the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in northern Siberia.
I love my city in the winter when the clean, crisp snow covers everything. The temperature often falls below −40 degrees, so we wear fur caps and coats, thick woollen mittens and unty which are fur boots made of deer skin. Today it’s bright and sunny. It’s only −25˚C outside, so I’m going skiing with my family for the first time this year.
I go to a Russian school, but we have lessons in our native Yakut language as well. My father plays the khomus – a traditional Yakut instrument, and my mother does embroidery with beads. She also makes hats and her friends sometimes ask her to make outfits for our national summer holiday. It’s called Yhyakh, and it’s a great chance for me to perform a dance called Ohuokhai and to drink kumys – a national drink that’s made from mare’s milk.
Hello, I’m Irina Smirnova. I’m 14 and I live in Kolomna – one of the biggest and most beautiful towns in the Moscow region. Kolomna is over 800 years old and a lot of tourists come here to see the old Kremlin, the churches and monasteries, as well as the museums and art galleries.
I love my town because there’s so much to do here. In the summer, I like to go rowing and sailing on the Oka River, and we can go ice−skating at any time of the year in our new Ice Palace. Dmitry Dorofeyev, the Olympic silver medallist (2006), and Ekaterina Lobysheva, Olympic bronze medallist (2006 and 2014), are from Kolomna and we have a long history of success in this sport.
There are more than 30 schools in Kolomna and mine is one of the new ones. In the spring and autumn, my class goes to the Park of Peace after lessons to look after the plants and flowers. Tomorrow is Sunday and we’re going to see a play at the Maly Theatre in Moscow. It only takes us an hour and a half to get there by bus and I’m really looking forward to it.

Making the Difference
Mу life is the same as millions of others'. I'm a wife and mother to two great kids. I work as a sales advisor and spend my weekends pottering about in the kitchen or garden. But eight years ago, my "normal", Liverpool-centred life changed forever.
I've always donated money to various charities. But rather than just giving money, I also wanted to help people face to face, so I decided to look for a project abroad. On the Internet I read about an Indian organization called the Rural Development Society. I knew very little about India, but I discovered that people in Tamil Nadu, the poorest state in Southern India, were in dire need of help.
I talked it through with my husband Paul, but I don’t think he expected me to go through with it.
Still, I sent a letter offering my services and within a few weeks received a reply from Manhoran, the chief of Ananandal village. In broken English, he explained how excited they were to think that someone would want to come to help them. My decision was made.
My husband was not enthusiastic about my going there, but he also knew how important it was to me. And, though my sons said they'd miss their mum, they knew it'd only be for a few months.
I booked a flight and wrote to Chief Manhoran that I was coming.
Nothing could have prepared me for my arrival at Chennai airport. The noise, the heat and the bustle was totally alien - as were the surroundings. I got to work straight away teaching at the small local school funded by the Rural Development Society, for six days a week.
Day-to-day life was a total culture shock. With no electricity or running water, everything was exceedingly basic. But despite the shockingly simple life, not for one moment did I regret going. The kindness of the villagers was all-encompassing. In return for me showing them respect for their culture, they gave me their all. My Hindi was awful, but we communicated with smiles, laughter and hugs.
From arriving in a desolate village full of strangers, they'd become my friends. I started to look at the place with the utmost affection. And despite looking forward to my trip back to Liverpool, it felt like home.
I started teaching the village children the alphabet under the tree by the hut. Every day more and more children turned up. It was soon impossible for me to manage on my own. I found a local teacher and we started to share evening classes. We settled into a routine, splitting them into groups of older and younger children - named my Little and Big Darlings.
The day before the end of my three-month stay, I was overwhelmed when 2,000 villagers begged me to stay and continue with the school. There was no way I could remain there - I missed my husband and children. But I promised to be back.
My husband was incredibly proud of how far we'd come, but never felt the urge to visit Ananandal. He and our sons prefer to stay at home and help raise money for the school over here.
Since then the school has got bigger and bigger and now we have 500 pupils. The best thing is that the school recently came second in the annual exams of the whole of Southern India. I've thought about going to live there, but my life, my job and family are in England so I'm happy just visiting.
When I'm back in Liverpool people say how proud I must be of myself. To a certain extent I am. But I'm more proud of my Little and Big Darlings who come to school every day with a smile, desperate to learn. They're the inspiration, not me.
