My name is Karim. I’m fifteen years old. I’d like to tell you about one Russian city which I like a lot. It’s called Naberezhnye Chelny. My father’s younger sister lives there and once or twice a year we visit him.
The city is comparatively young, although the traces of settlements were found there a long time ago. At the moment there are many attractions worth seeing and visiting.
There aren’t many ancient monuments as most of the architecture is dated by the second half of the 20th century. One of the oldest buildings of the city is The Basilica of Saints Cosmas and Damian. It was built in the 19th century at the expense of local merchants. Apart from that, there are several interesting mosques in the city. The most visited one is called “Tauba” and was built in 1993.
One of the newest buildings and popular tourist attractions is the cylindrical shape 24-storey business center called “2.18” or «skullcap«. It appeared in the early 21st century.
In fact, Naberezhny Chelny is the second largest city in the republic after the city of Kazan.
For those, who love art, there is a large Picture Gallery built in 1980. It is full of fine art as well as folk art. Another frequently visited attraction is The Museum of History and Military Glory of Motor Forces, which was established in 1986. In addition, the city has a very beautiful promenade.
Perhaps, the most interesting monument in the city is the one dedicated to Vladimir Vysotsky. Personally, I respect this singer and songwriter. That’s why we visited the monument on our very first visit.

Для тех, кто любит искусство, есть большая картинная галерея, построенная в 1980 году, наполненная не только предметами изобразительного, но и народного искусства. Другой часто посещаемой достопримечательностью является Музей истории и воинской славы автомобильных войск, созданный в 1986 году. Кроме этого, в городе есть очень красивая набережная.
Пожалуй, наиболее интересный памятник в городе тот, который посвящен Владимиру Высоцкому. Лично я уважаю этого певца и автора песен. Именно поэтому мы посетили этот памятник в нашу самую первую поездку.

Few months ago I have found a pen friend from Naberezhnye Chelny and maybe one day I will go there as well. And I have found so many interesting facts about this town.
Naberezhnye Chelny is one industrial town in west part of Russia. This city was founded in 1626, but it has become a city only in 1930. In past the city was called Brezhnev.
Naberezhnye Chelny is the largest center of vehicle production. The popular Kamaz trucks are produced there.
In Nabarezhnye Chelny you can meet many different nationalities. There are Russian, Tatars, Ukrainians and many others.
Close to the city you can find the river Kama. The climate here is continental but during the year there are high and low temperatures. The coldest time is January. The hottest one is July.
In Naberezhnye Chelny you can find different cinemas, theaters, concert halls, museums and galleries. If you want to learn the culture and history of the town better, you have to visit few of these places.
Also here you can find interesting monuments. For example the fans of Visotskii can see the monument of the guitar. Also there are monuments to angels, heroes and so on. All these places are pretty interesting and have some history.
One of the highest buildings in the town is 24 floors building. It’s a business center. Another favorite place of many citizens and tourists is dolphinarium. 350 people can come here to see the dolphins and sea lion.
I am sure there are many more beautiful places in Naberezhnye Chelny. This place is in my list-to-visit. I will love this place, make new friends and plenty fantastic photos.

Несколько месяцев назад я нашла друга по переписке из Набережных Челнов и, может, однажды отправлюсь туда. Так вот я нашла много увлекательных фактов об этом городе.
Набережные Челны - это индустриальный город в западной части России. Этот город был основан в 1626 году, но стал он городом официально только в 1930 году. В прошлом этот город назывался Брежнев.
Набережные Челны - самый большой центр по производству грузовиков. Всем известные грузовики КАМАЗ были произведены именно там. В Набережных Челнах вы можете встретить много разных национальностей. Тут проживают русские, татары, украинцы и многие другие.
Вблизи города вы обнаружите реку Кама. Климат здесь континентальный, но в течение года тут бывают как высокие, так и низкие температуры. Самое холодное время года - январь. А самое жаркое - июль.
В Набережных Челнах можно найти кинотеатры, театры, концертные залы, музеи и галлереи. Если вы хотите изучить культуру и историю города лучше, вы можете посетить некоторые из этих мест.
А ещё тут имеются интересные памятники. Например, фанаты Высоцкого найдут памятник в виде гитары. А ещё там есть памятники ангелам и героям. Все эти места довольно интересны и наполнены историей.
Самым высоким зданием в городе является 24-этажный бизнес-центр. Ещё одним любимым местом многих горожан и туристов является дельфинарий. 350 человек могут тут любоваться дельфинами и морским львом. Я уверена, что в городе ещё много красивых мест. Этот город попал в мой список мест, которые я хочу посетить. Мне понравится это место, я заведу новых друзей и сделаю кучу потрясающих фото.

The city is located in the center of Tatarstan. Geographically, the city is located 200 kilometers from the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan – Kazan. And it is the second most populous after the capital. The city is located next to the Kama River, which is a major tributary of the Volga.
Over the past few decades, the city has been actively developing and changing. Naberezhnye Chelny is the main producer of domestic KamAZ trucks.
The city of Naberezhnye Chelny is suitable for a long comfortable stay. The advantage is the location of the business part of the city and residential areas. These two parts are separated by parks, avenues and wide roads, pedestrian alleys. The woodlands, which are located in the suburbs of Naberezhnye Chelny, are a National Park. Two years ago, the city took the honorable first place in the list of environmentally friendly cities in the country.
History of the city
During the excavations, archaeologists discovered various household items of ancient people, which could be attributed to the Bronze Age. In the Middle Ages, the territory of the city was occupied by the peoples of the Chuvash, Tatars, Bashkirs and Bulgars. In the 1800s, settlers began to appear. Basically, they were serfs of the tsars of Ancient Russia. They were the founders of the village of Mys. The local peoples resisted the sudden serfdom. There have been uprisings for a century. Local villagers even joined Pugachev's uprising at the end of the 18th century.
Closer to the beginning of the 19th century, the territory of the city was part of the Kazan province. The village became a large settlement and the center of the parish, as it had a number of advantages. A large port, warehouses of various goods, a postal tract. All this led to the rapid growth and development of the city.
In the 20th century, after the October Revolution of 1917, the city was renamed Krasnye Chelny. But the city did not carry this name for a long time. Already in 1930, the Soviet government gave the city a new name – Naberezhnye Chelny. The city still bears this name today.
In the 1800s, the serfs of the tsars moved to this place, forming the village of Cape. The population who lived here resisted serfdom. There have been uprisings over the course of a century. The villagers joined Pugachev's uprising.
At the beginning of the XIX century, the city was geographically part of the Kazan province. The village has grown into a village. A port, warehouses, and a postal tract appeared in it. These changes led to the fact that the village was given the status of a city.
In the XX century, the city was renamed Krasnye Chelny. But in 1930, the new government gave a different name to Naberezhnye Chelny.
Now approximately 513 thousand citizens live in the city. In 2005, the city had a coat of arms, a flag, and an anthem.
The city is divided into two parts, the Old and the New City. The Old City has a long and rich history, and the new part of the city is young, appeared during the Soviet period.
There are people living in the city who profess two religions, Orthodoxy and Islam. For Christians, the venerated Borovets Church or the Holy Ascension Church. And for Muslims, the Taub Mosque is significant.
The city loves holidays, both local and national. The most popular are Victory Day, Youth Day, City Day, Builder's Day. But the most favorite holiday for all citizens is the Flower Festival, held on August 30.
From the very morning, the festive bustle begins in the city. There is a carnival procession along the main street, flower shops are open all over the city. There are flower figures on the flowerbeds of the city, where all residents like to take photos for their albums.
Also, citizens are happy to celebrate Family Day, Mother's Day and Brides' Day.
Naberezhnye Chelny is surrounded by a forest area, which is a National Park. Thanks to him, the city is recognized as the most environmentally friendly cities in the country.
It is home to the world-famous Kamaz automobile manufacturing plant, which are known as the most reliable cargo carriers.
