1.3.2.1- recognize initial letters in names and places;

1.3.4.1- use the alphabet to place the first letters of word in alphabetical order;

1.5.11.1- use there is / there are to make short statements and ask questions;

1.5.14.1- use basic prepositions of location and position e.g. in, at, next to, near, on, to describe where people and things are;

1.5.14.2- use basic prepositions of time: on to talk about days

3. T eacher will invite Ss to stand in a circle and to greet each other.

Place the fish in the pond with the picture side down. Make sure the number is also down and not visible.

One student is given the fishing rod and asked to catch a fish by connecting the magnet at the end of the line to the paperclip on the fish. When the student has the fish in-hand, he or she names the picture, makes the beginning sound and names the letter. If the child gets the sound, but does not know the letter name, that is OK. The sound is the important piece of information in this task.

After a few turns each, students then add the points on the fish’s tail for a total number of points. If this task is too hard, have students count the number of fish they caught.

Demonstration / Whole-class activity:

- inform students that they are going to watch the 1 st 2 mins of the video about the ABC and ask them to repeat after the speaker

- demonstrate flash cards to students and ask them to name letters

Group work: (FA)

- split the class into 2 teams

- take two different sets of ABC flashcards and mix each of them; after provide each group with one set of cards

- set a time limit of 7 mins and explain the task - to try and put mixed letters in the correct order (from A to Z)

- monitor students’ progress and assist if necessary

- in 7 minutes ask groups to present their results

- groups feedback to peers’ presentations, identifying one good point and one area for improvement.

- play the song from the beginning of the lesson again in order to check if they did everything correctly as well as consolidate.

Dynamic break (W) (2)

Whole-class activity:

Ask students to stand up, go to the carpet and repeat the moves shown in the video for dynamic break “Head, shoulders, knees & toes”

Tracing letters (10) (I)

Individual work (with extension to home task if necessary):

- provide each student with a worksheet for tracing letters A-Z

- explain that students should first trace the letters and then try to write letters themselves on the space provided

- remind that students should use pens only

- set a time limit of 10 minutes; monitor students’ progress and assist if necessary

- when students finish, check and assess the work (orally or with an appropriate sticker)

NOTE: if some students do not finish the exercise in class let them take it as a home assignment and check it the next lesson

Learners are divided into 2 teams. Teacher gives a paper to each team with the word “ENGLISH”. The winner team is that to elicit the word.

Start- up activity

A teacher asks learners “What word is THIS?” “What does it mean?” , giving clues (in Russian)– You learn it. It is in England. Learners try to guess the meaning of the word.

Globe or map of Great Britain

Taxi, hotel, mobile tennis, pizza, coke. Teacher explains that all these words are international- used in all countries in all languages almost the same way.

1)Modelling: teacher demonstrates the pictures and changes first slowly then very quickly making children to catch up with the rhythm of moving pictures. Teacher says initial sound, so she\he presents 6 sounds pictures: l h t m p c

2) Recasting: teacher asks CCQ indicating the wrong pictures “Is this pizza? Is this coke. etc Students reply Yes/No

3)Drilling: *game “Black box” students are to to make predictions what word is hidden in the box. Learners give their suppositions. *learners play game “Pelmanism” in pairs: they have cards with new vocabulary word initial sounds l h t m p c and pictures turned over. then a learner opens one card with thw word and 1 card with a picture. And if they coincide and match a learner gets these 2 cards. The winner is who picks the biggest number of cards.

4)Fixing: learners do exercises in a work book

Evaluation of the lesson

Students make a collage with the whole class sticking the word ENGLISH in the middle of the poster and attaching international words around it.

Learners observe and comment the result of their work, sharing what was difficult and easy.

Teacher give everyone some smiles to assess their work during the lesson.
