My native city is Chita. It is the administrative center of Zabaykalsky Krai with a population of almost 350 thousand.
Our city is surrounded with beautiful taiga forests. One can enjoy the great view of ledum flowers in spring. There is a lake called Kenon within the city. I like its sandy beaches very much.
My favorite place in the city is Odora Park. There are nice sculptures, playgrounds, Ferris wheel and other entertainments there. There is also an exhibition of military vehicles.
There are several theaters and cinemas in our city. There are many museums. I recently visited the Museum of Trans-Baikal railway, it was very interesting.
As for industry, energy sector dominates. There is also an engineering plant which produces refrigerating equipment.
Unfortunately, Chita has serious environmental problems. First of all fires often occur in woods and cause a smoke blanketing. Cars are also a source of air pollution. Besides we watch traffic jams every day.
As far as I know, it is difficult to find a good job with a decent salary in Chita. But food and housing prices are rather high.
One more thing I dislike about the city is the climate. It is very hot in summer and very cold in winter. It is unpleasant when strong wind with send blows in your face.
So generally I like our city, but I also consider a possibility of moving somewhere else in the future.

Наш город окружен прекрасными таежными лесами. Весной красиво цветет багульник. В городе есть озеро под названием Кенон. Мне очень нравятся его песчаные пляжи.
Мое любимое место в городе - парк ОДОРА. Там есть симпатичные скульптуры, детские площадки, колесо обозрения и другие развлечения. Ещё там есть экспозиция военной техники.
В нашем городе несколько театров и кинотеатров. Много музеев. Недавно я посетил музей Забайкальской железной дороги, это было очень интересно.
Что касается промышленности, то доминирует энергетический сектор. Работает также машиностроительный завод, который производит холодильное оборудование.
К сожалению, в Чите серьезные экологические проблемы. Прежде всего, это часто возникающие лесные пожары, которые вызывают задымление. Автомобили тоже являются источником загрязнения воздуха. Кроме того, мы каждый день наблюдаем пробки.
Насколько я знаю, в Чите трудно найти хорошую работу с достойной зарплатой. А цены на продовольствие и жилье довольно высокие.
Мне не очень нравится климат нашего города. Летом очень жарко, а зимой очень холодно. Неприятно, когда сильный ветер с песком дует в лицо.
Так что в целом мне нравится наш город, но я все же рассматриваю возможность переехать в будущем куда-нибудь еще.
Одним из крупных культурных забайкальских центров считается вольнолюбивая Чита.

Established to protect the unique natural ecosystems of the Baikal watershed, the multi-functional conservation area protects part of the western slopes of the Barguzin Mountain Range on the eastern shore of Lake Baikal. The park’s coniferous forests host a wide array of wildlife, from brown bear to Manchurian wapiti to musk deer to capercaillie. The endemic Baikal seal frolics in the lake’s waters, feeding on the abundance of fish. The national park is included in the Lake Baikal World Heritage Site.

Wildlife in Zabaikalsky National Park is made up primarily of taiga faunal communities. There are 291 terrestrial vertebrates in the park, including 44 mammals, 241 birds, three reptiles, and three amphibians.
Forest-dwelling birds in the part include the large capercaillie, and its distant cousins, the northern black grouse and northern hazel hen.
Fish in the Barguzin and Chivykuisky bays and lakes and rivers of the park include Arctic cisco, European whitefish, Arctic grayling, eelpout, pike, perch, id, and roach. Chivykuisky Bay is an important spawning ground for whitefish in Lake Baikal.
Forests cover nearly two-thirds of the park area, and a third of these are made up of Scotch pine. Plant communities in the park are distributed according to vertical zoning along the mountainous terrain. The bottom belt of forests is primarily made up of larch forests with an undergrowth of mountain pine. Mixed pine and larch forests occupy areas higher up.
