I was born in a small town but I love it with all my heart. I liked to walk around, discover new places, hang out with my friends in the center and so on. Today I know everything here. I have to say that in childhood I didn’t really like it. I wanted to move to another town. I wanted to live in a big city where I can meet new people every day. I really thought that my town was boring. But today I see how beautiful and interesting my city is.
My native town is Odintsovo. This town had been founded in 1470. It is located 4 kilometers away from Moscow, in west part of Moscow region.
During the Second World War our town suffered a lot. Many firms were opened here after 1960. People here are very hospitable and friendly. As I said it’s not very big and everyone knows each other. And I really like it.
Few of my friends went away to study. They say they miss Odintsovo a lot. And they are always happy to come back here. That’s why I am sure I will miss this town.
The best place in my town is the center. It is beautiful and always full of people. Teenagers often come here in the evenings. And when there is some celebration in our town, it’s always here in the center. There are some shops here, bars and cafe, offices and bank.
Our town is not so popular and famous like Moscow or Saint Petersburg, but there are also beautiful streets and buildings.
For me my home town is the best. I was born here and grew up. I have many friends and relatives in this town. My best memories, holidays and celebrations were here. I understood how much I love it only when I have become elder. And in future I am sure wherever I go I will always come back in Odintsovo at least once in a year. Because a piece of my heart will stay here forever.

Я родился в маленьком городке, но люблю его всем сердцем. Мне нравится тут гулять, открывать новые места, зависать с друзьями на центре и так далее. Сегодня я знаю здесь абсолютно все. Должен сказать, что в детстве я не очень любил свой город. Мне хотелось переехать куда-нибудь ещё. Я хотел жить в большом городе, где смогу встречать новых людей каждый день. Мне действительно казалось, что мой город очень скучный. Но сегодня я вижу, в каком красивом и интересном городке я живу.
Мой родной город - Одинцово. Он был основан в 1470 году. Расположен он всего в 4 километрах от Москвы, в западной части Московского района. Во время Второй Мировой войны город сильно пострадал. Зато после 1960 года он начал расти и развиваться, стали появляться фирмы и заводы. Люди тут очень гостеприимные и дружелюбные. Как я уже сказал, город не очень большой и все тут практически знают друг друга. И мне это очень нравится.
Несколько моих друзей уехали в другие города учиться. Они говорят, что очень скучают по Одинцово. И они всегда рады, когда приезжают сюда на каникулы. И я тоже уверен, что буду скучать по родному городу.
Лучшее место здесь - это центр города. Тут красиво и всегда полно людей. Подростки часто приходят сюда по вечерам. А когда приближается какое-либо празднование, то обычно это случается в центре города. Здесь есть несколько магазинов, бары и кафе, офисы и банк.
Наш город не такой известный и популярный, как Москва или Санкт-Петербург. Но тут есть тоже красивые улицы и здания. Для меня мой родной город - самый лучший. Я тут родился и вырос. Здесь живет много моих друзей и родственников. Мои лучшие воспоминания, праздники и всевозможные торжества прошли тут. Я понял, как сильно люблю свой город, только когда стал старше. И в будущем я уверен, куда бы я не уехал, сюда буду возвращаться хотя бы раз в год. Потому что частичка моего сердца навсегда останется здесь.
My Hometown или My Homecity?
Отмечу такой момент. Вы наверняка знаете, что town — это маленький городок, а city — большой город. Кажется логичным, что, если вы из Москвы, то нужно писать homecity, не так ли? На самом деле, не совсем так. Слово homecity в принципе возможно и понятно, но обычно под hometown подразумевают родной город независимо от его размеров. Вот пример из Cambridge Dictionary:
He was born in Miami, but he considers New York his hometown since he’s lived there most of his life. — Он родился в Майами, но считаю Нью Йорк своим родным городом, так как прожил там большую часть жизни.

It is a very lively place, located in Central Russia. It was founded in 1221. Back then it used to be a major trading hub. People from all over the country came to Nizhny Novgorod to buy and sell goods. Now it has a population of one million and five hundred thousand citizens, it is the 6th biggest city in Russia.
Nowadays it is a large city with a big city center and suburbs. A lot of companies have their headquarters in Nizhny Novgorod. It is one of the biggest economic centers in Russia.
Of course, each city has its advantages and disadvantages. Let’s start with the advantages. There are many ways of transportation in Nizhny Novgorod. You can travel by bus, by trolley, you can even take the underground. Also, Nizhny Novgorod has an advantageous geographical location because it is located between two major cities — Moscow and Kazan.
However, there are also some disadvantages. First of all, it is very dirty and noisy because of traffic jams. Second, it hasn’t got a lot of public areas, such as parks, where you can spend your time with friends. Third, life here is pretty expensive, and the prices of houses and apartments are quite high.

My school is also located in this street. It is a new modern four-storeyed building that looks very nice. It is not far from my house so it does not take me long to get there.
There is a small park not far from my house. On warm sunny days you can see mothers with children walking there. Also there are some attractions and my friends and I like to go there very much.
My parents started living in this street when I was 5 years old. I want to say that I like my street very much and I am lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

I live and study in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It’s my native city as I was born here. Kazan is located on the left bank of the Volga river and it was founded more than one thousand years ago. So it is a very old place, with rich and fascinating history. The population of my city is multinational and enormous: about one and a half million people. Kazan has changed greatly from the moment when I was born and it has grown much bigger, but still it keeps its own traditions and some strict religious rules. The people of my city are friendly and hospitable, polite and intelligent to my mind.
The capital of Tatarstan is a city of contrasts: there are quarters of modern high-rise buildings and districts with old historical places; some districts are awfully noisy and crowded, with long traffic jams, the others are very clean and quiet. Our transport system is really busy: we have a railway station, a big river port, an airport, buses, trolleybuses, trams and trains of the Kazan metro which was opened in 2005.
There are plenty of impressive sights for our guests in the historical centre of the city: the Kremlin of the 10th century, the Millenium bridge, the Kul-Sharif mosque and other beautiful cathedrals and mosques. Kazan has unique museums, able to suit any taste: the Fine Arts museum, the museum of Leo Tolstoy, the National museum of Tatarstan, the museum of Zoology.
My native city is a recognized sports capital of Russia. It has hosted many important sports events. The International Summer Universiade of 2013 was among them. And in 2018 our city is going to host the FIFA World Cup.
I feel proud of my birthplace and I am sure that Kazan is the place which is worth visiting at least once in our life. I know that many tourists from abroad come here and they feel enraptured with the local sights.

В историческом центре города находится множество впечатляющих достопримечательностей для гостей: Кремль 10-го века, мост Миллениум, мечеть Кул-Шариф и другие красивые соборы и мечети. В Казани есть уникальные музеи, способные удовлетворить любой вкус: музей изящных искусств, музей Л.Толстого, национальный музей Татарстана, зоологический музей.
Мой родной город является признанной спортивной столицей России. Он принимал гостей многих важных спортивных событий. Международная летняя Универсиада-2013 была одной из них. А в 2018 г. наш город собирается принимать участников Кубка мира FIFA.
Я горжусь местом своего рождения, и я уверен, что Казань – это место, которое стоит посетить хотя бы раз в жизни. Я знаю, что многие туристы приезжают к нам, и они приходят в восторг от местных достопримечательностей.

My Native City

People like travelling. They visit different countries and different continents. Some people move to different cities because they change a work place or they just want to experience something new in their lives. However, wherever people go, native city is always in the inmost recesses of the heart.
Люди любят путешествовать. Они посещают разные страны и разные континенты. Некоторые люди переезжают в другие города, потому что меняют рабочее место, или просто хотят испытать что-то новое в своей жизни. Однако, где бы они не находились, родной город всегда находится в глубине души.
My native city is Moscow. It is the capital of the Russian Federation. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Russia. It has long history. The first known reference to Moscow dates from 1147. Since that time Moscow was destroyed several times. However people reconstructed it and it became even more beautiful.

There are many wonderful parks, museums, theatres in the city.

Everyone can find something interesting here. For those who like sport it is possible to visit many sport events held in Moscow. There are many stadiums and sport clubs in Moscow. If you want to have a good time, you can visit different clubs, restaurants and bars.
Здесь каждый может найти что-то интересное. Для тех, кто любит спорт, есть возможность посетить многие спортивные мероприятия, проводимые в Москве. В Москве много стадионов и спортивных клубов. Если вы хотите весело провести время, вы можете посетить разные клубы, рестораны и бары.

My Village
Моя деревня
My grandparents live in a country house in a small village not far from Moscow. Very often my parents and I visit them on the weekends. Moreover, I spend most part of my summer holidays there. I love my village. The air there is really fresh and there are lots of things to do.
Мои бабушка и дедушка живут в загородном доме в маленькой деревне недалеко от Москвы. Очень часто мы с родителями навещаем их по выходным. Кроме того, я провожу там большую часть моих летних каникул. Я люблю свою деревню. Воздух там действительно свежий и всегда есть чем заняться.
In my village, there is a lake. I swim there with my friends when the weather is good.
My granny has a small garden and I always enjoy an opportunity to eat fresh vegetables, fruit, and berries, when I am in the country. Sometimes my grandfather and I go to the forest and pick up mushrooms. I find this activity really interesting. From time to time we also go fishing. Honestly, I am not really good at it, but my grandfather is a professional. In the Lake there a lot of different species of fish. After the fishing, my granny normally cooks a fish soup. It is one of my favorite dishes and my granny cooks very delicious.
В моей деревне есть озеро. Я плаваю там с моими друзьями, когда погода хорошая.

In summer there are a lot of people in my village. Some of them are living there
on aregular basis, like mygrandparents. Everybody knows each other there and I really appreciate it that there I can go for a walk with my friends at any time and my relatives would not worry about me. My village is a place, where I have a lot of friends and enjoy spending time!
Летом в деревне много людей. Некоторые из них живут там на постоянной основе, как мои бабушка и дедушка. Там все друг друга знают, и мне нравится, что я могу пойти на прогулку с моими друзьями в любое время, и мои родственники не будут беспокоиться обо мне. thunderstorms bring relief. Before the thunderstorm, the air becomes notably fresh, and after it, one can see a beautiful rainbow in the sky. Also, I like summer because you can enjoy eating healthy food like berries, fruits and vegetables, not to mention that you can eat ice-cream every day and make BBQ in the backyard. It’s just a wonderful time to have a rest from the intense year and take a necessary vacation. Every summer my family and I choose two weeks to spend them together in a new place. As you know, Vladivostok, the capital of the Primorsky region, occupies the peninsula of Murav'ev-amursky, which is washed by Amur and Ussuri gulfs. One part of this peninsula, called Egersheld (it was named after one of the explores of Russian Far-east) , is my
native district. Egersheld is known from the foundation of Vladivostok. More then one hundred years ago the first houses for the seamen appeared in it. Since that time Egersheld is known as the working center of the city. Now, for example, the territory of the commercial
port is situated in this district. Egersheld is the most environmental friendly district in the city as it is open to strong sea winds, which blow out all harmful substances in the air and clouds of dust. Of course, this has a negative side – the average temperature in the district in
winter is lower than in the other parts of Vladivostok. As my native district occupies very special geographical position (in fact, Egersheld – is a small peninsula of Murav'ev-amursky peninsula) so its citizens may admire beautiful sea scenes every evening when the sun is
hiding for the horizon. These seascapes are really breathtaking and very often you may see dozens of artists trying to carry this wonderful sight to paper or canvas.
Now about my flat. I live in Sipyagina, 31. Our flat is not very large, its double-roomed. If you know the word "khrushovka" , you may imagine what is our flat looks like. Besides these two rooms we also have a kitchen and a bathroom. I think there is no any
outstanding thing in our flat that is worth describing. We have a TV set in one of the rooms, two wardrobes, two working tables, and small bookcase where our home library is kept.
