My Favourite Day of the Week

My favorite day of the week is Saturday. First of all, it is a weekend and I have an opportunity to sleep longer. After the working week, I feel really exhausted and Saturday is a day when I can relax. The further reason to love Saturday is the fact that my mother cooks pancakes for the breakfast. This is my favorite dish. Unfortunately, during the working week, I do not have enough time to eat properly because I have to hurry up so as not to be late for school.

After the breakfast, my parents and I normally go somewhere. Very often we go for a walk in the park not far from our home. In summer I can ride a bike there or do roller skating. In winter we normally go skiing there. From time to time I go to the cinema or visit different museums either with my family or with my friends. I tend to do my homework and on Sundays, that`s why on Saturday I have enough spare time not only to spend it with my family but also to meet with my friends. Moreover, on Saturdays, I tend to visit my grandparents and have a dinner with them. My granny cooks very deliciously. After dinner, I play chess with my grandfather. Sometimes we play some desktop games together.

Saturday is the best day of the week for me. I do not have to go to school and do my homework, I can do everything I like and that`s great!

My working day begins early in the morning. I get up at 7 o’clock in the morning. I do my bed and go to the bathroom to wash my face and hands and brush my teeth.

Then I comb, get dressed and go to the kitchen where I help my mother to make breakfast. I usually have boiled eggs, some porridge, a cup of coffee, bread and butter. After breakfast I leave my place and go to school. My school is not far from my house. It takes me about half an hour to get there by bus.

My lessons begin at 8.30 and finish at 3 p.m. As a rule I have 6 lessons every working day. After each lesson we have a break. During breaks we have a rest, discuss the latest news, problems and have a snack.

At 3 o’clock the classes are over and I go home. After dinner I do some work about the house. I wash dishes, go shopping and get down to study again. I spend a great deal of time on my lessons. When 1 am through with my study 1 rest a little. I listen to music, look through the newspapers or magazines, phone my friends and relatives, watch TV, read books. Sometimes my friends call for me and we go for a walk. At 10 o’clock when I am tired I go to bed.

Today I’d like to tell you about my day. I wake up at 7 o’clock. I get up and go to the bathroom. I wash my face, clean my teeth and have a shower, if I have enough time. After that I get dressed and comb my hair. Before leaving home I usually have breakfast. I have a sandwich and a cup of coffee. Then I go to school. When my workday ends, I come back home. In the evening I prefer to relax at home. Sometimes I watch TV or read a book. Or I may surf the Internet. When it’s late, I go to bed and sleep.

3. My daily routine

My name is Sergei. I’m fourteen years old. To have time to do everything I try to map out my time correctly.

I wake up at 7 o’clock every day except Sunday. I wash myself, clean my teeth with a tooth-brush and have my breakfast. In the mornings I like to eat fried eggs or omelette, cheese sandwich and to drink white coffee. My lessons begin at 8:30. I have to get to my school four stops by bus and not to be late I leave home at 7:50.

At 2 o’clock the lessons are over. If the weather is good I like to go home from school on foot. After dinner I like to watch TV. I go in for boxing twice a week. My training begins at 3 o’clock and lasts for an hour. Then I do my homework. My parents go home after their work at half past five and we have supper at about six o’clock.

I go for a walk with my friends in the evening. We go to the cinema or spend time in the public garden. I go to bed at 10 o’clock. Thanks to the fact that I have plan of the day I have the time for studies and a good rest.

4. My Daily Programme

My every day activities are quite routine. On weekdays the alarm clock wakes me up and my working day begins. I usually get up at 7 o'clock. If it is spring or summer I jump out of bed, run to the window and open it wide to let the fresh morning air in. I do my physical jerks, wash, clean my teeth and comb my hair. Then I have breakfast. For breakfast I usually have toasted bread, bacon and eggs, tea or coffee and some jam. While I am having breakfast, I switch on the radio and listen to the news. It takes me 10 minutes to get to school. School starts at 8 sharp and I have lessons till half past 12. I usually have six or seven lessons a day. I return home at 2 o'clock and take a short rest and I have lunch at 3. After doing my homework I go for a walk with my friends. I often play chess with them. I am a member of a chess club. Sometimes we go to the pictures or the theatre but not very often. In summer I like to get out more, so in the evenings I go to the tennis court for a few sets of tennis, or take out my bike for a run in the country. My parents usually return home at 19 o'clock. We have dinner at 19.30. As usual dinner consists of soup, fish or roast chicken, potatoes, vegetables and dessert. After dinner we go to the sitting room. There we read books, newspapers and magazines, watch TV, chat with the friends on the phone. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I attend preparatory courses at the University. I leave home at 4.30 afternoon and come back at 8.30. At 10 o'clock I take a shower, brush my teeth and go to bed. I fall asleep fast and have no dreams.

5. My daily schedule

Our dynamic life is full of different activities, and I believe that it is very helpful when you have a scheduled daily routine because it can save your time. I am a schoolboy at present, so let me tell you some words about my daily schedule.

I am not an early bird but as a rule I have to wake up quite early, at 6.30 (six thirty, or half past six) on weekdays. I stay in my bed for 5 or 10 minutes and then I get up. I open the window to let some fresh air enter the room. My morning routine consists of making the bed, taking a shower and having breakfast. At 7 o’clock I go to the kitchen where my mother has already made breakfast for me and my dad. I prefer boiled eggs, a sandwich and a cup of tea in the morning. After breakfast I go to the bathroom again to clean my teeth and comb my hair. I get dressed next. Our school uniform is a shirt and black trousers.

At 7.30 (seven thirty, or half past seven) I leave home and go to school. It takes me about 15 minutes to get there on foot. I often surf the Internet on my phone before the lessons start at 8 a.m. I usually have 5 or 6 lessons every day, so at about 2 o’clock my school is over. We have a long break after the 4th lesson, so I can have lunch in our school canteen.

On my way home I always enjoy my walk. If I am not in a hurry, my friends and I visit a shop or a café before going home. We eat ice-cream and take funny pictures of ourselves. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I attend additional Maths courses at the university, and I also play basketball on Wednesday afternoons. When I get home I try to find some time for a little rest. I watch TV, play computer games, chat on the phone or just listen to music. At about 4 o’clock I start doing my homework. It generally takes me 2 or 3 hours to do that, though sometimes I sit with my homework till late at night.

When my parents come home from their work we usually have dinner. Then I often do the washing-up and take the rubbish out. I go to bed at about 11 p.m. I am usually so tired that I fall asleep at once.

I don’t have enough time for my hobbies during my weekdays, so they seem a bit boring probably. But I often devote my weekends to reading, doing sports and studying English. In winter I mainly go skiing or skating, and in summer I usually go roller-skating, playing football or riding a bicycle.

6. My Daily Routine

As a rule, I get up at half past six. I put on my dressing-gown, go into bathroom and turn on the bath taps. Good health is better than wealth, so I do my morning exercises. I get breakfast at seven-thirty and listen to the news over the radio.

I like to begin the day well, so my breakfast is always a good one. For breakfast I usually have hard-boiled eggs or an omelette, bread and butter, tea or coffee.

Then, I say "Good-bye" to my mother, take my school-bag and go to school. I don't live far from my school, so it doesn't take me long to get there. The lessons start at half past eight. Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes. The classes are over at two o'clock.

I come back home, have dinner, wash up and go shopping. I buy foodstuffs for the family. Coming back I begin to clean the house and get the vegetables ready for supper. We have supper at seven. I do my homework for the next day. It usually takes me several hours to prepare well for the lessons.

In the evening, I always try to spend at least an hour at the piano. As a rule my parents and I sit and talk, watch a film on TV, read newspapers and magazines. Sometimes, we go to the cinema or to the theatre. Once or twice a month, I visit exhibitions in my home town. I go to bed at about eleven o'clock, but my parents like to sit up late and write letters or read.

At 8 p.m. I have supper. I have some salad, a slice of sausage and bread, sour milk.

In the evening I listen to the radio or watch TV. If the programme is not interesting I go to the cinema or chat with my parents. Sometimes I go for a walk with my friends. We talk about different things and usually have a good time.

At about 11 o’clock I go to bed.

Then he puts on his hat ant and jacket. Mr. Jenkins is a mailman, and he wears a uniform. At a quarter past eight he kisses his wife and children good-bye. But he is late this morning. The bus comes at twenty past eight. Mr. Jenkins hurries to the bus stop. He sees the bus. He runs and tries to catch the bus, but misses it. He waits for the next bus. He is late for work. It is raining and there is a puddle next to the bus stop. When the bus comes, it splashes Mr. Jenkins’s uniform. “Oh”, cries Mr. Jenkins, “What a day!” He crashes into the gate, chase a bus and miss it …. It’s the same every year when the snow comes.

Eight o’clock is the supper time in our family. We all get together in the kitchen and discuss different problems. Twice a week I go to the volleyball class in the evening. At about 10 pm I go to bed.

I am very busy on my weekdays. My working day begins early in the morning. My studies starts at 8 о’clock, so I have to get up at 7 to be ready for it. I never wake up myself, my mother always wakes me up. Sometimes I do my morning exercises, then I rush to the bathroom. I clean my teeth, wash my face. The cold water makes me feel not so sleepy. Then I go back to my room, make the bed. I switch on my radio, put on my clothes, comb my hair, put a little makeup. By that time my breakfast is ready (my mother cooks it for me).

At a quarter to eight I grab my bag and rush to my school/University. Usually I have six or seven lessons a day, it lasts till 3 o’clock. After each lesson there is a break, so I can talk to my friends or eat my sandwich. After classes I go home. First of all, I need to walk my dog. Then I have my dinner and a little rest.

The teachers give us a lot of homework, so I start doing it about 16.30 or 17.00. As a rule, it takes me two or three hours to do my home assignments.
My parents get home at about six o’clock. We watch soap operas on TV, have supper together. We discuss the news, I tell about the lessons and school.
After it, I help my mother to do some work about the house — wash dishes, sweep the floor, clean the room.

Twice a week in evenings I play tennis. When I do not go to play tennis, I stay home and watch TV, listen to the music, read magazines. Sometimes my friends call me and we go for a walk. At eleven o’clock, tired after a long working day I go to bed and fall asleep.

On weekdays the alarm-clock wakes me up at 6.30 and my working day begins. I’m not an early riser, that’s why it’s very difficult for me to get out of bed, especially in winter. I switch on my radio and do my morning exercises. Then I go to the bathroom, take a warm shower, clean my teeth and shave. After that I go to my bedroom to get dressed.

Usually my wife makes breakfast for me. But when she is away on business or just doesn’t have to get up early, I make breakfast myself. While having breakfast, I listen to the latest news on the radio.

I leave home at 7.30 and go to the nearest underground station. After earning a degree in logistics, I took a position in a retail distribution center as an assistant manager. It takes me an hour and a half to get to work. But I don’t want to waste my time on the train. I’ve got a small MP3 player and I listen to different texts and dialogues in English. Sometimes I read a book and retell it silently. If I come across an interesting expression I try to memorize it.

I usually arrive at work at ten minutes to nine though my working day begins at 9 sharp. There are always some emails to translate from English into Russian. Sometimes my boss wants me to discuss working issues with our business partners abroad. There are also a lot of phone calls which I have to answer.

At 1 o’clock in the afternoon we have lunch. We usually have lunch in a small cafe just round the corner. At 2 o’clock we come back to work. And we work hard till 5 o’clock. During the working day we also have several short coffee breaks. But sometimes we have no time for them.

I come home at about 7 o’clock in the evening. My family members are usually at home, waiting for me. We have dinner together. Then we sit in the living room, drink tea, watch TV or just talk. Occasionally I have to stay at work till 6 or even 7 o’clock in the evening. When we have a lot of things to do we go to work on Saturdays. So by the end of the week I get very tired. All I can do on Sundays is to sleep till eleven o’clock, watch television, listen to music and read something in English.

And still I always look forward to my next working day because I like my job. I think I get a lot of useful experience.
