Good morning, dear students and our guests! The topic of our lesson today is "Greek and Roman mythology".

Look the video, please. (Roman gods)

Early humans, in every culture on Earth, made up stories about these phenomena and invented gods and supernatural beings to provide comfort and instruction. The people of ancient Greece shared stories called myths about the gods, goddesses, and heroes in which they believed. These exciting stories explained natural phenomena that could not be explained by science in the ancient world. Modern plays, novels, television programs, movies and even advertisements refer to Greek gods, goddesses, heroes and their stories. The early Romans were farmers. They did not understand science, instead they believed in forces or spirits. These Gods did not have human forms or minds.

Well, and now a story about Greek mythology (student's presentation and a video - Greek - Roman mythology).

The religion of the early Romans was so changed by the addition of numerous and conflicting beliefs in later times. The origins of those myths were in most cases unknown to the early Roman writers on religion. On the other hand, classical writers, such as the poet Ovid in his Fasti (Calendar), were strongly influenced by Hellenistic models, and in their works they frequently employed Greek beliefs to fill gaps in the Roman traditions. The Romans borrowed much of their religion and mythology from the Greeks. The Roman gods were nearly the same as the Greek ones, the only difference being their names. Roman myths were also taken almost directly from the Greek ones. Rome had a strong belief in gods.
