V. Reading:
Steppes and mountains of Kazakhstan create a unique landscape of the country. Mountains in Kazakhstan, being either low or high, contribute to the beauty of Kazakhstan nature and offer many opportunities for holidays and recreation, attracting many tourists every year. There are 3 high mountain ranges on the territory of Kazakhstan: the Tien-Shan, the Altai and the Saur-Tarbagatay. Khan Tangri is the highest point (6995m.) of the Tien-Shan in Kazakhstan.
There are nearly 7 thousand natural lakes in the country. Among them is Balkhash Lake in the sands of Central Kazakhstan, the western part of it is fresh, while the eastern half is salty. Balkhash Lake is the third largest lake in Kazakhstan, after the Caspian and Aral Seas.
The lake is 614 km in length and from 3.5 to 44 km in width. Its deepest places reach 26 metres.
The lake is located in three regions of Kazakhstan: Almaty, Zhambyl and Karaganda. About 20 species of fish can be found in the lake, as well as 120 species of birds.
Zaisan Lake is in the east. Zaisan lake is like a huge freshwater reservoir, full of fish and marine life. Alakol Lake in the southeast, and Tengiz Lake in the center of Kazakhstan.
There are a few rivers in Kazakhstan and the four are the main resources of water in our country. They are the Irtysh, The Ural, the Syr-Darya, the Ili.

The Volga is the longest river in Europe and one of Russia’s most important rivers. 20 largest cities of Russia, including the capital of Russia, Moscow, are situated in the Volga’s drainage basin. The Volga is of great importance to inland shipping and transport in Russia even though the river freezes for most of its length for three months each year.
About 2,320 miles (3,730 km) long, the Mississippi River is the largest river system in the United States and North America. The river originates at Lake Itasca, and empties below New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico. The famous Steamboats entered trade in the 1820s. Cotton, timber and food were transported down the river.
The Nile is the longest river in the world, stretching north for 6,650 km (4,132 miles) from East Africa to the Mediterranean. The Nile has two major tributaries, the White Nile and Blue Nile. The White Nile rises in the Great Lakes region of central Africa while the Blue Nile starts at Lake Tana in Ethiopia.The river provided a great role in the development of the Egyptian civilization.
At about 6,400 km (4,000 miles) the Amazon River is the second longest river in the world, a bit shorter than the Nile. The Amazon is the largest river in the world by volume, one-fifth of the world’s total. The Amazon flows through Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Brazil before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. The Amazon has over 3,000 recognized species of fish and new species are still being discovered.

Getting information is a daily necessity for all people and there are many ways how to do it. Let’s find out what are the best ways to learn about the world.
