Today the life of many young people in Russia as well as in other countries of the world is influenced by popular culture. The young follow certain stereotypes that are imposed on them through TV, movies, and music. In their lifestyle they try to imitate the images of their idols. Other young people are sports and music fans. They follow their idols in their tours and support them. Unfortunately they are intolerant to those who don't share their view. It's a specific aspect of the youth subculture that can't be ignored. I think that subculture is the culture of those who are dissatisfied with their place in society. Different subcultures have their own beliefs, value systems, fashion, and favourite music. For example the subculture of Rastafairians was based on nostalgia for a lost world. They idealized Africa. Rastafairians were Afro-Caribbean immigrants in Britain. They began to wear distinctive clothes, camouflage jackets, large hats in the red, gold and green colours of Ethiopia and put their long, uncut hair in dreadlocks. They brought to us such types of music as ska, reggae and hip-hop. Many subcultures developed as a result of music fusion of black and white cultures. There are other subcultures that are not connected with music, and have a specific ideology. For example skinheads, which wore heavy boots, jeans and braces and shave their hair or cut it very short. Skinheads dreamed about the revival of the traditional working class culture. Skinheads were identified with extreme right wing views. Among other subcultures are Hippies, Punks, Mods, Rockers, Ravers and many others. Generally they were young people with low self-respect, who did poorly at school. They opposed the traditional world in which they where settled as fiasco elements. Subcultures are not that bad as they are thought to be. Teens want to show off. But at the same time a lot of teens think about changing the world to the best. Subcultures are for mostly for young and creative. Then, I am sure, teenagers become good citizens. Some who were punks became the main editors of famous newspapers. A subculture is a way of life. It is not a fan club, it is an attributive feature of a real life.

Сегодня жизнь многих молодых людей в России, а также в других странах мира находится под влиянием массовой культуры. Молодые люди следуют определенным стереотипам, которые навязываются им через телевидение, кино и музыку. В своей жизни они пытаются имитировать изображения своих кумиров. Другие молодые люди увлекаются спортом и любят музыку. Они следуют за своими кумирами в туры и поддерживают их. К сожалению, они нетерпимы к тем, кто не разделяет их точку зрения. Это специфический аспект любой молодежной субкультуры, который не может быть проигнорирован. Я думаю, что субкультура существует для тех, кто недоволен своим местом в обществе. Различные субкультуры имеют свои собственные убеждения, системы ценностей, моду, и любимую музыку. Например, субкультура Rastafairians была основана на ностальгии по утраченному миру. Они идеализировали Африку. Rastafairians были афро-карибскими иммигрантами в Великобритании. Они стали носить отличительные одежды, камуфляжные куртки, большие эфиопские шляпы красного, золотого и зеленого цвета и заплетали свои длинные, нестриженные волосы в дреды. Они принесли нам такие виды музыки как ска, регги и хип-хоп. Многие субкультуры появились в результате слияния музыки черных и белых культур. Есть и другие субкультуры, которые не связаны с музыкой, и имеют специфическую идеологию. Например, скинхеды, которые носят тяжелые ботинки, джинсы, подтяжки и бреют волосы или стригут их очень коротко. Скинхеды мечтают о возрождении традиционной культуры рабочего класса. Скинхеды ассоциируются с крайне правыми взглядами. Среди прочих субкультур: хиппи, панки, моды, рокеры, рейверы и многие другие. В основном, это молодые люди с низким чувством самооценки, которые плохо учатся в школе. Они выступают против традиционного мира, в котором они живут как фиаско элементы. Субкультура - это не так плохо, как считают. Подростки хотят выделяться. Но в то же время многие подростки думают об изменении мира к лучшему. Субкультуры предназначены в основном для молодых и творческих. Я уверен, что подростки станут хорошими гражданами. Часто те, кто были панками становятся главными редакторами известных газет. Субкультура - это образ жизни. Это не фан-клуб, это атрибутивная черта реальной жизни.

Nowadays the life of many young people all over the world is influenced by popular culture. Certain stereotypes are imposed on the young people through films, TV programs and music. People who are sports or music fans travel to different cities to support their idols and favourite teams. Sometimes people try to look like their favourite singers or sportsmen. They buy the same clothes or make tattoos. Sometimes these people can be intolerant to those who do not share their view.
Each subculture has its own beliefs, fashion, value systems, music.
There are also subcultures that are not connected with sport or music, they have a specific ideology. For example, Punks, Hippies, Mods, Rockers, Ravers and others.
Usually, these young people who belong to different subcultures have some problems at school or in their personal life. Sometimes they have low self-respect, they don`t have many friends, and they try to oppose the real world. Some people believe that subcultures are something bad, but it is not always true. A lot of teens want to change the world to the best.
Subcultures are for energetic and creative young people. Some teenagers who were punks can become successful journalists, rockers become popular musicians, and basketball fans sometimes grow up to win world competitions. A subculture is not a fan club, it is a way of life.

В наши дни на многие молодые люди по всему миру оказываются под влиянием поп-культуры. Определенные стереотипы навязываются молодым людям через фильмы, телевизионные программы и музыку. Люди, являющиеся спортивными болельщиками путешествуют по разным городам и странам, чтобы поддержать своих кумиров и любимые команды. Иногда люди стараются выглядеть как их любимые певцы или спортсмены. Они покупают такую же одежду или делают татуировки.
В каждой субкультуре есть свои мнения, мода, система ценностей, музыка.
Существуют также субкультуры не связанные со спортом или музыкой, у них своя идеология. Например, панки, хиппи, моды, рокеры рейверы и другие.
Обычно у молодых людей, принадлежащих к разным субкультурам есть проблемы в школе или личной жизни. Иногда у них низкая самооценка, мало друзей и они пытаются противостоять реальному миру. Кто-то считает, что субкультуры - это что-то плохое, но это не всегда так. Многие подростки хотят изменить мир к лучшему.

Некоторые тинейджеры, которые были панками, могут стать успешными журналистами, рокеры становятся популярными музыкантами, а баскетбольные фанаты вырастают чтобы победить в соревнованиях мирового уровня. have different behaviour, outlook on life, preferences and so on. They differ
from the representatives of the culture.

поведение, взгляд на жизнь, предпочтения и так далее. Они отличаются от
представителей культуры.
The representatives of the subculture have their own value system,
language, behavior, style, clothes and so on. Subculture can be formed on
national, professional and many other bases. The most popular subcultures are
those the representatives of which are the youth.
У представителей субкультуры существует
своя система ценностей, язык, поведение, стиль, одежда и т.д. Субкультура
может формироваться на национальной, профессиональной и многих других
основах. Самыми популярными субкультурами являются те, представителем которых
является молодежь.
Subculture can be based on
musical, art or political preferences and so on. Very often subculture
differentiates itself from the culture. Sometimes it can be aggressive.
Special style and behavior help to differentiate the representatives of
subculture from the representatives of culture. Besides, it helps to show
people their outlook on life.

Sometimes some parts of subculture can become the part of culture. For example,
some clothes or shoes which are used by the representatives of subculture as
its peculiarity can be used by other people.

The most popular subcultures are based on musical preferences. The
musicians wear particular clothes, put on make-up and so on. In accordance
with it, the representatives of the particular musical subculture, for
example, choose clothes. So, the particular clothes become the peculiarity of
such subculture. The most popular musical subcultures are hippie, heavy metal
subculture, punk subculture, goth subculture, hip-hop and so on.

By musical preferences
Representatives of individual subcultures often prefer different music. Goths like – gothic metal, matallists – heavy metal and its types, punks – punk rock, Rastafarians – reggae, emo – post-hardcore and so on.
Sports subcultures
Football fans are also counted among a number of special sports subcultures. They became a more organized group at the turn of the 70-80 years of the twentieth century.
Among the subcultures that stand out in style are usually noted: Visual kei, military, teddy-fights, cyber-ready, mods, stylists, freaks. All of them have their own distinctive features in the image.
According to public beliefs
In the list of subcultures there are also those that stand out according to public beliefs: beatniks, SHARP skinheads, RASH skinheads, straight-edgers, anarcho-punks, yuppies, informals, new age, happy.
People who share a common specific hobby and related attributes also consider themselves to be one of the subcultures. We can talk about such communities: bikers, reenactors, gamers, biboys, role players and so on.
By hooligan behavior
Most of all, ordinary citizens are concerned about representatives of these subcultures, similar to hooligan and defiant behavior: ultras, highly organized amateurs, ore-fights, football rowdies, and gopnik.
On other grounds
There are many youth subcultures united by other hobbies. Among them, otaku are people who adore and are well versed in anime and various manga. Also quite remarkable are furries who are fans of anthropomorphic creatures and consider themselves to be a furry fandom.

Some people think that only teenagers choose subculters as a life way. But some grown-ups become the members of subcultures, too. Why does it happen?
Brains of people work in different ways. While we live – we choose a number of values for ourselves. Very often the main things for people are love, family, salary and health. When everything is good in these spheres, we needn’t anything other to feel happy. But sometimes we want more things to make life more interesting. Subculture is one of such ways.
- to show themselves as individuals (firstly, it’s a wish of people who are unhappy or have some problems in communication. Demonstration of their own style, phylosophy is one of possibilities not to be “grey” in the life) ;
- it’s a way to create (some subcultures like to create new things, for example write poems, songs, make definite styles of music, and members of the group are like a big family which can appreciate and understand your creations. It’s often the reason for grown-ups to join different groups) ;
- when it’s nothing to do else (it’s not so difficult to understand the ideology of punks. There is no future – it’s their answer for all questions. If the world is so bad and there is no wish to make something for own life – shoking style and agressive behaviour it’s the only chance not to die from boredom) ;
- when you want to find companions for some actions (actions may be as good as bad. It’s good when you bring benefit to the world protecting plants, animals, helping orphans and elders, but some groups gather to fight using elements of their style for comfort – skinheads have no hair and wear heavy boots just for this aim) ;
- to copy somebody (for example, stars of TV-screens, or friends who do the same. Psycologists name it “emotional addiction” – it’s special behaviour when a person become to live by the life of another person, taking from him or her all the habits and traits).
