The Saratov State Technical University (SSTU) is one of the biggest universities in the Russia. It is an important educational and scientific centre. It began its history as Auto-Road Institute in 1930. The Institute had only two faculties: Auto mechanic and Road Construction. The number of students was 440.
After the Great Patriotic war the country needed specialist for machine-building, construction and power engineering. So, in 1960 SARI was renamed into the Saratov Polytechnic Institute. It began training engineers for different branches of heavy industry. The number of students increased greatly.
The institute trained not only engineers but scientists as well. Postgraduate courses were opened. Later humanities faculties were formed. The teaching start increased, modern teaching methods were introduced. In 1992 the SPI became the Saratov State Technical University.
My faculty of management social system was created in 1998. Period of the education on all specialties of our faculty is 5 years. The Faculty leads preparation on six professions and two directions. Preparation on pulpit realize the experienced teachers amongst which 16 professors, doctors of the science. I like my faculty very much because he offers several very interesting professions. One of which is mine. There are very good experienced teachers. I hope that after completion of the university I’ll become a not bad specialist.

Today SSTU is a unique educational and research complex including 89 chairs, 8 faculties, 12 educational-research centers and 3 institutes. More than 26 thousand students study here including international ones.
Information Technologies, Software Engineering and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Cultural Studies, Industrial and Civil Engineering, Architecture and Design, Power Engineering and Social Science, Chemical Engineering and Machines for Food Industry, Transport Engineering and Instrument-Making, Sewing Technology and Fashion Design are main direction of education and research in our university. SSTU is among leaders in innovation activities.
From the beginning of 1990 SSTU has been successfully participating in international activities. Many students and academic staff are involved in international training and mobility programs. SSTU participates in many international programs. SSTU has agreements with universities and companies of Great Britain, USA, Canada, France, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, India, Taiwan and others.
Cooperation with International computer training institutions allows combining higher educational standards of Russian Federation with professional IT standards. Graduates of International Educational Centre of SSTU could get double diplomas: diploma of higher education of Russian Federation and Higher APTECH Diploma in Software Engineering and Higher Diploma in Computer Graphics and Multi-Media.
Together with foreign partners our university organizes annual International Competition in Computer Graphics and Internet Technologies for Kids and Youth. It is called "Digital Wind".

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROBLEMS
Today our planet is in serious danger. Modern industry damages the Earth. There are many environmental problems: acid rain; water shortage; destruction of the ozone layer of the Earth; damage of water and soils; damage to wildlife: numerous species of animals and plants can disappear. At last, the most serious danger arising from damaging the environment is the result of the abovementioned consequences. These are the consequences of the development of civilization.
Air pollution affects our body. The pollutants that harm our respiratory system are known as particulates 1 .
Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains.
Our forests are disappearing because they are cut down or burnt. If this trend continues, one day we won't have enough oxygen to breathe, we won't see a beautiful green forest at all.
The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. If nothing is done about it, one day nothing will be able to live in our seas.
Every ten minutes one kind of animal, plant or insect dies out forever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that are alive today may soon become extinct.
And even greater threats are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.
