I would like to talk about my favorite literary character Eugene Onegin from the novel by the great writer and poet Alexander Pushkin.

The plot of “Eugene Onegin” is very simple and well known. Tatiana fell in love with Onegin immediately, but he was able to fall in love with her only after enormous upheavals that took place in his chilled heart.

But despite the fact they loved each other, they could not connect their fate. And the reason of this situation is not any external circumstances, but their own mistakes, and their inability to find the right walk of life.

The young gentleman Eugene Onegin is depicted by Pushkin as a man with a very complex and contradictory character. I think especially with these treats the character attracts the reader’s attention. But it is very difficult to determine the own attitude to the character.

Onegin is not a goodie, but not a baddie. It forces the reader actively, closer and deeper to understand the nature of the hero of the novel and the assessment of his actions.

To my mind, Onegin combines the best human qualities such as dignity and honor. His chilled soul does not evoke scorn at me.

He hated the high life and respected sincere and light people, but because of his character and the prevailing circumstances of life he could not open to these people and that was destroying him from inside.

I understand the state of mind of Eugene Onegin. Perhaps, that is why he is my favorite character.

Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been influential in culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre.
I like this book because it is logical and funny. This book suggests that we should think about some important things, and I'm sure that's one of the best examples of the literary genre.

I am completely keen on reading. I try to read every day at least a few pages. I like fantasy stories and some adventurous stories. And there is a story of that kind I am eager to read over and over again. Its name is “Harry Potter.”

The story was written by a popular British writer J. K. Rowling. And it tells us about a little boy Harry who lives in a family of his aunt. One day he finds out that he is a wizard and should go to study to a school of magic — Hogwarts. And that’s where the story begins.

In the following 7 parts we get to know what a great wizard Harry is. He meets new friends, studies, does sport and conquer the most evil magician in the world. These books teach how to be friendly, loyal and strong. They show us how to face difficulties and how important a family and friends are.

I love this book for all of this. I have already read it a few times. And I know that I will definitely read it once again.

I read always everything and everywhere. If you ask any of my friends about my hobby, everyone will tell you how much I like to read. For me there is no difference between novel, detective or historical books. There was a period when I read only psychological literature or some horror stories. But in general I like to read a lot. This love came to me because of my grandparents. They were reading fairytales for me when I was a child and now I read and share my opinion with them about the last books.

Speaking about different kind of literature I honestly prefer classical literature. There are some good books of modern literature as well. But normally I don’t feel desire to read it over again. Classical literature is completely different. Especially I like Russian classics. I read everything according my school program and sometimes I ask a teacher: what else can I read. They also know about my passion.

It’s difficult to say what is my favorite book, because many of them have changed my ideas, vision and opinion about some things. My favorite writers are Dostievskii, Gogol, Bulgakov, Turgenev, Nabokov, Chekhov, Bunin. I think their books I can read over and over again. The last book that impressed me a lot is “Master and Margharita” by Bulgakov. When I finished to read I was really sorry, that I hadn’t read it earlier. Somebody says that there is nothing special there, just another crazy story. But for me it is a very good example there is good and bad in our world. And unfortunately very often we can not make the right decision from the first time. We trust and love the wrong people but don’t pay attention on those who loves us. Maybe the story is little bit crazy, but I like it a lot.

Another book that I love so much is “The picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde. It is a philosophical novel. I advised this book to all my friends. It’s a mystical story that happens to a young man. All his life he was attractive, charming, handsome and young. But he had a secret that could destroyed all this beautiful life. The moral for me is: we have to appreciate every moment and rely only on ourselves. Our life can finish very fast on the moment when we are happy.

Моя любимая книга

Я читаю всегда везде и практически все. Если вы спросите любого моего друга о моем хобби, они все скажут, что я люблю читать. Для меня нет разницы между романами, детективами или историческими книгами. Было время, когда я читал только психологическую литературу или ужасы. Но я люблю читать вообще. Эту любовь мне привили бабушка с дедушкой. Они читали мне сказки перед сном, а теперь я делюсь с ними впечатлениями о последних прочитанных произведениях.

Говоря о разных видах литературы, я предпочитаю классику. Есть хорошие современные авторы. Но у меня редко возникает желание перечитать книгу. Особенно мне нравятся русские классики. Я читаю все согласно школьной программе и порой спрашиваю совета у учителей, что ещё можно прочесть. Они знают о моей страсти.

Трудно сказать, какая книга любимая, ведь многие меняют мои идеи, мировоззрение и ощущение. Любимыми авторами являются Достоевский, Гоголь, Булгаков, Тургенев, Набоков, Чехов, Бунин. Мне кажется, их книги я могу перечитывать снова и снова.

Мораль тут в следующем: цените каждый момент и полагайтесь только на себя. Наша жизнь может закончиться неожиданно для нас.

I’ve recently read a book which has made a very deep impression on me. It’s called Gone with the Wind and it makes really unforgettable reading. The author of the book is Margaret Mitchell. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, into a family of the president of the Atlanta Historical Society. All the family were interested in American history and she grew up in an atmosphere of stories about the Civil War.

After graduating from college Margaret Mitchell worked for a time for the Atlanta Journal. In 1925 she got married. In the following ten years she put on paper all the stories she had heard about the Civil War. The result was Gone with the Wind. It was first published in 1936 and became the talking point of all America. In 1939 it was made into a highly successful film. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable played the leading roles. Vivien Leigh won the Oscar. Everyone loved her high-spirited and beautiful heroine, Scarlett O’Hara.

The story is set around the time of the American Civil War (1861-65) when the Southern States went to war with the North to defend their way of life. It was a way of life in which rich gentry lived in large houses and owned huge areas of land, cultivated by black slaves. Scarlett O’Hara was born into one of these rich houses. When this way of life was destroyed and all her family’s wealth taken away by the advancing Northerners, the spoilt, willful Scarlet had to grow up and use all her wit and intelligence — and beauty — to build a new life.

But Gone with the Wind is also about a love triangle. While Scarlett loves the quiet, gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes, the wild and decidedly ungentlemanly Rhett Butler is in love with her. After Ashley marries someone else, and after many adventures of her own, Scarlett does marry Rhett — but only for money.

The marriage is stormy and eventually Rhett walks out on her, but by that time Scarlett has realized that she loves him after all. Scarlett thinks of some way of getting him back, but we never know if she does.

Margaret Mitchell never wrote a sequel to answer this burning question.

She died in 1949 in a car crash.

In 1991 a publishing company asked Alexandra Ripley, a historical novelist to do the job. Her novel Scarlett was not in the same class as the original. Critics have been writing very bad reviews of Scarlett, but the book is popular with the public.

I enjoy reading books very much and most of all I like the book of Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle.

The main characters of the stories are a brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes, who can solve the most complicated cases, and his loyal friend Doctor John Watson. Sherlock Holmes always pays attention to every detail and can expose the craftiest criminals.

My favourite story is entitled “A Scandal in Bohemia”. In this story the King of Bohemia visited Sherlock Holmes under an assumed name. He told Sherlock that some years ago he had had an affair with an opera singer Irene Adler. The King was going to get married to a Scandinavian princess and he was afraid that Irene, who had compromising letters and photographs, could send them to his fiancée’s family. So he wanted Sherlock to get them for him.

Finally, using disguise, Holmes got into Irene’s house and figured out where the photographs were hidden. But when he wanted to get them, the photographs were not in place. There was a letter from Irene and her photograph. She unveiled his plans, but she promised not to use the photographs and letters against the King. So the famous detective was beaten by the clever woman.

This summer I have read the book “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, which was written by the famous English writer of the 19 th century Arthur Conan Doyle. It is a detective story.

I liked this book very much from the very beginning. First of all, Sherlock Holmes is one of my favourite characters. Besides, the plot of the story is extremely interesting and intricate. The action takes place in the Yorkshire moors in England. It starts with a mysterious murder of Sir Charles Baskerville in his old mansion. Although the doctor says that the cause of his death is the heart attack, he doesn’t believe it himself as a lot of traces of a gigantic hound are found on the ground around the body. So, he goes to London and asks Mr. Sherlock Holmes to investigate the case.

The book has a lot of thrilling episodes. I couldn`t help feeling nervous especially when the gigantic hound followed its prey for I was not sure that the story would have the happy end. Fortunately, Sherlock Holmes does his best as usual and the mystery of the strange murder is revealed.

To cut a long story short, the fearful hound is killed and the main character Sir Henry, the heir of the Baskervilles, is saved from the terrible death.

In conclusion, I would like to say that detectives are my favourite genre. When I read them I always try to predict the events, to draw conclusions and it helps me to develop some kind of deductive reasoning. So, if you like detectives, I advise you to read this book. I am sure you’ll get a great pleasure.
