Travelling by Air
I knew it was going to be a bad day when, on the way to the airport, the taxi driver told me he was lost.
I had booked my flight over the telephone, so when we finally arrived, I had to rush to the reservations desk to pay for my ticket. The woman at the desk told me that my name was not on the passenger list. It took fifteen minutes for her to realize that she had spelled my name incorrectly. She gave me my ticket and told me I'd better check in my luggage quickly or I'd miss my flight.
I was the last person to get on the plane.
I found my seat and discovered that I was sitting next to a four-year-old boy who had a cold. I sat down and wondered if anything else could go wrong.
I hate flying, especially take-off, but the plane took off and everything seemed to be all right. Then, a few minutes later, there was a funny noise and everything started to shake. I looked out of the window and-oh my God-there was smoke coming out of the wing. All I could think was, "The engine is on fire. We're going to crash. I'm too young to die".
Almost immediately, the captain spoke to us in a very calm voice, "Ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. We are having a slight technical problem with one of our engines. There is absolutely no need to panic. We will have to return to the airport. Please remain seated and keep your seat belts fastened."
Well you can imagine how frightened I was, but the crew was fantastic. The flight attendants were really calm and told us not to worry. One of them told me to relax and said that everything would be all right.
A few minutes later, we were coming in to land. The pilot made a perfect landing on the runway. It was over. We were safe.
That day, I decided not to fly again. I caught another taxi and went home. But as I closed the front door, I looked down at my case. Somehow I had picked up the wrong suitcase.
There are so many people who like to travel. All my friends are crazy about traveling and adventures. It doesn’t matter if you travel by car, by bus or by train. Every kind of trip is interesting, exciting and unforgettable. I like airports.
Traveling by plan is unforgettable experience I think. Airports are always full and people there look so much happier. To the best breakfast in a good restaurant I would prefer a cup of coffee at the airport.
Plan is the fastest way to travel. For example you can reach Milan in 3-3,5 hours. And trip to America will take only 10-12 hours. In the plan you will be offered tea or coffee, snack or even meal. As you can see this kind of traveling is very comfortable and many people prefer plans to all other transport.
But you should know some important things about airport. You have to read rules and be very careful about it.
First of all you need to book a ticket before trip. You can do it at home few months before travel. If you change your plans you can not cancel the ticket. So you must be careful.
Another thing is that you can take luggage only about 20 kilos to check out. The luggage can be damaged. But you may also keep carry on no more than 7 kilos. Pay attention that some things can not be taken inside of the plan.
You should arrive few hours earlier to register and check in. It is better have a cup of coffee at the bar, than come 5 minutes late. A plan will not wait for you.
As you can see you have to follow these rules, otherwise you will miss your trip. I never traveled anywhere far. I hope in future I will get a chance to see different countries and I will make my dreams to come true traveling by plan.

Люди очень любят путешествовать. Все мои друзья получают огромное удовольствие от путешествий и приключений. И не так уж и важно: путешествуешь ли ты на машине, на автобусе или поезде. Каждая поездка достаточно интересная, захватывающая и незабываемая. Я люблю аэропорты.
Путешествие на самолёте - это просто незабываемый опыт, я думаю. Аэропорты всегда полны людей, которые выглядят такими счастливыми. Любому завтраку в хорошем ресторане я предпочту чашку кофе в аэропорту.
Самолёт - это самый быстрый способ путешествия. Например, вы можете добраться до Милана за 3-3,5 часа. А поездка в Америку занимает всего 10-12 часов. В самолёте вам предложат чай или кофе, перекус или полноценный обед. Как видите, этот вид путешествия очень удобный и большинство людей предпочитают самолеты другому транспортному средству.
Но вам нужно знать некоторые важные моменты об аэропортах. Вам следует почитать правила и быть очень осторожным и последовательным. Прежде всего вам нужно забронировать билет до поездки. Вы можете сделать это дома за несколько месяцев до вылета. Если ваши планы изменятся, вы не сможете аннулировать билет. Поэтому тут нужно быть очень аккуратным.
Ещё один нюанс заключается в том, что ваш багаж должен весить всего 20 килограмм. При перевозке багаж могут повредить. Но вы также можете взять и ручную кладь до 7 кг. Обратите внимание, что некоторые предметы в салон проносить нельзя.

Millions of people all around the world adore travelling. We travel because we wish to see new countries and cities, visit historical places, meet new people and taste different cuisines.
There are different means of transportation. People can travel by ship, airplane, train or car. All means of transportation have their advantages and disadvantages.
I would like to talk briefly about each of them.
Travelling by airplane
Travelling by airplane is the fastest, but the most expensive. A lot of people prefer travelling by airplane, but some people are afraid of heights and that’s why they prefer travelling by train.
Travelling by train
I have to notice that travelling by train is very popular in Russia. Modern trains have very comfortable carriages and seats. There is also the dining-car in each train. You can see many interesting places and enjoy the nature, looking through the window.
Travelling by ship
Trips on cruise ships have a lot of advantages. One of them is the amazing pricing. Most cruise lines are all-inclusive packages. This includes a person’s cruise fare, lodging, food and some onboard entertainment and sightseeing.
Travelling by car
And, finally, travelling by car is also very popular in Russia. A lot of people choose this means of transportation. They don’t need to buy tickets, book hotels etc. They can stop whenever they wish, rest and stay at the same place as long as they want.
Hiking
Hiking is a very popular means of travelling, but not as popular in Russia as it is popular abroad. Generally, young people prefer this kind of travelling. Walking tours are very exciting.
My opinion
I prefer travelling by plane. To my mind, it is the most comfortable and fast means of transportation.
And finally, it is commonly known that travelling is a great thing! Nothing can give you so many positive emotions and memories as travelling to some remarkable country or city.

Путешествия на поезде
Следует отметить, что в России самым популярным средством передвижения является поезд. У современных поездов очень комфортабельные вагоны и места. Также в каждом поезде есть вагон-ресторан. Вы можете увидеть интересные места через окно вагона и наслаждаться красотой природы.
Путешествия на корабле
Путешествия на круизных лайнерах имеют много преимуществ. Одно из них – выгодная цена. Большинство круизных лайнеров работают по принципу "все включено". В стоимость включены билеты, размещение в каютах, питание, развлечения, посещение достопримечательностей.
Путешествия на машине
И, наконец, путешествовать на машине также очень популярно в России. Многие люди выбирают этот вид транспорта. Им не нужно покупать билеты, бронировать гостиницы и т.д. Они могут останавливаться там, где хотят, отдыхать и проводить в каждом месте столько времени, сколько хочется.
Пеший туризм
Пеший туризм также очень популярный вид путешествия, но в России не такой популярный, как за границей. Его предпочитают в основном молодые люди. Экскурсии пешком очень увлекательные.
Мое мнение
Я предпочитаю путешествовать на самолете. По моему мнению, это самый комфортный и быстрый вид транспорта.
И, в конце концов, общеизвестно, что путешествовать просто замечательно. Ничто не может вам дать столько положительных эмоций и воспоминаний как путешествие в какую-нибудь замечательную страну или город.

I think we are very lucky to live in the 21 st century. Thanks to new technologies a lot of exciting things are available to us, about which people could only dream of a hundred years ago.
Actually the first successful controlled and sustained airplane flight took place in the beginning of the 20 th century. But that was only a test flight and first jets were unsafe.
During the 20th century great progress was made in the field of aviation. By now all the big cities have airports. Millions of passengers travel by air every day around the world.
Aircrafts are very safe now. Planes are even safer than cars. I know that some people have aerophobia, but their fear is very irrational. One takes more risks going to the airport by taxi, than flying in the aircraft.
I am not afraid of flights at all! It is so exciting that in a few hours you land in another city or even in another country. I love traveling so much. But usually we go to the sea only once a year. I wish we could do it more often. Traveling by aircraft is not extremely expensive, but it is not very cheap either. Especially if you need tickets for all family members.
Some people feel discomfort or pain it the ears during takeoff and landing. I only felt it once, when I had a runny nose. Usually I feel fine all the flight. Though I have never had a flight more than 4 hours long. I guess I would be tired of sitting for a longer period. There is not much space to limber up in the plane. But it is not such a big problem.
I hope in future I will visit a lot of countries. I’m happy to live in the time when flying is not a fairy tale anymore.
Я думаю, нам очень повезло, что мы живем в 21 веке. Благодаря новым технологиям нам доступно множество увлекательных вещей, о которых люди могли только мечтать сто лет назад.
На самом деле первый успешный управляемый и устойчивый полет самолета состоялся уже в начале 20-го века. Но это был всего лишь испытательный полет, и первые самолеты были небезопасны.
В течение 20-го века был достигнут большой прогресс в области авиации. Сейчас во всех больших городах есть аэропорты. Миллионы пассажиров ежедневно совершают авиаперелеты по всему миру.
Самолеты теперь вполне безопасны. Самолеты даже безопаснее автомобилей. Я знаю, что у некоторых людей есть аэрофобия, но их страх иррационален. Ехать в аэропорт на такси рискованнее, чем лететь на самолете.
Я совсем не боюсь полетов! Это так захватывающе, что через несколько часов вы приземлитесь в другом городе или даже в другой стране. Я так люблю путешествовать. Но обычно мы ездим к морю только раз в год. Жаль, что мы не можем делать это чаще. Путешествие на самолете не очень дорого, но и не очень дешево. Особенно если вам нужны билеты для всех членов семьи.
Некоторые люди чувствуют дискомфорт или боль в ушах во время взлета и посадки. Я почувствовал это только однажды, когда у меня был насморк. Обычно во время полета я чувствую себя прекрасно. Хотя у меня никогда не было рейса более 4 часов. Думаю, я устал бы сидеть дольше. В самолете не так много места для разминки. Но это не такая уж большая проблема.
Надеюсь, в будущем я побываю во многих странах. Я счастлив жить в такое время, когда полет больше не сказка.
