We all know that the United Kingdom is a very majestic country. It is no surprise that it has a very long list of famous people that are an integral part of the British history.
William Shakespeare was one of the most well-known playwrights and poets all over the world. He wrote a lot of poems, plays and sonnets such as “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, and others. He made a great contribution to English literature, culture and language.
Isaac Newton was the greatest scientist and physicist of all time. He represented his theory of gravity and gave his understanding about optics and mathematics.
Winston Churchill was one of the most outstanding orators, politicians and prime ministers of Great Britain. He successfully led the country against Nazi Germany. He also got the Nobel Prize in literature.
Margaret Thatcher was the first woman who took a position as Prime Minister from 1979—1990. She was nicknamed “Iron Lady” because she was never afraid of telling her mind and always followed her philosophy.
Princess Diana was the most renowned Welsh celebrity after the marriage with Prince Charles. She was very engaged in different charities and was very loved by people. After her death in the car accident, she still remained in public limelight.

He got his early education at a public school. Then he became a student at Oxford. Charles studied mathematics and later taught this subject in the same college.
Arthur Conan Doyle Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1859 While in school, Conan Doyle began writing to earn a little extra money. Shakespeare is considered to be the greatest playwright of all time. No other writer's plays have been produced so many times or read so widely in so many countries as his.(37 plays, many books and poems)
Isaac Newton (1642-1727)
Was an English physicist and mathematician.He is widely recognized as one of the most influential scientists of all time and as a key figure in the scientific revolution.
Daniel Defoe (1660-1731)
James Cook was born on 27 October 1728 in a small village of Yorkshire. In 1755, Cook enlisted in the Royal Navy, serving in North America .
He is famous as the English explorer, navigator, and cartographer. James Cook is famous for his voyages in the Pacific Ocean and his accurate mapping of it, as well as for his application of scientific methods to exploration.
He sailed around the world twice!
Lord Nelson is the symbol of the nation. He is a British naval commander famous for his numerous victories that made him a national hero. He was one of those men who served their country best during the Great War with France. In his final battle at Cape Trafalgar in 1805 Lord Nelson was mortally wounded. After his state funeral he was buried in the crypt of St.Paul’s Cathedral .On the column in the center of Trafalgar Square there is a statue to Admiral Nelson.
The 25 th of January is celebrated by Scots all over the world. It is the birthday of Robert Burns- a famous Scottish poet and a lyricist, who wrote hundred of songs and poems, mainly on country life, love and national pride.
He died in poverty at the age of 37. After his death he is regarded as a pioneer of the Romantic movement and a great source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism.

Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977)
Comic and actor, born in London. Chaplin was one of the first media stars of the Twentieth Century. Chaplin moved to Hollywood where he became famous for his silent movies and comic talent.

At the same time, in between shifts, began writing detective stories. Christie is known all over the world as the Queen of Crime. She wrote 78 detective novels, 19 plays, and 6 romantic novels. Her books have been translated into 103 foreign languages.
Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013)
Margaret Thatcher was born on October 13, 1925 in Grantham, England. She attended Oxford University from 1943 to 1947 and earned a degree in Chemistry. She married Denis Thatcher in December 1951 and they had twin children, Mark Thatcher and Carol Thatcher. She was the chairman of the Conservative Party 1975-1990.
Margaret Thatcher, the 71-st Prime minister of Great Britain the first and the only woman to hold that title. She was known as the "Iron Lady" for her uncompromising style. All in all, Margaret Thatcher won three elections. She was the longest continuously serving prime minister since 1827. In 1992 Queen Elisabeth II granted her with the title of a baroness. She died at the age of 87.
The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely demanded and most influential band of the rock era.

E.John is an English singer-songwriter, composer and pianist.
Was appointed as Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1995.
For his charitable work, John was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II .
Also he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Diana's parents were from aristocratic families: her father's name is Viscount Althrop and her mother's name is Frances Roche. For the first time Diana met the Prince in 1977.They were married at St. Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1981 and this wedding became rather most brilliant event in Britain. Diana was twenty, Charles — thirty-two. In June, 1982 the Princess of Wales gave birth to her first son, Prince William, and in September, 1984 she gave birth to her second child Prince Henry. The official divorce was held in August, 1996. On August 31, 1997 Princess Diana was killed in a car accident .Diana's death was a great tragedy and loss for the whole British nation. Her death is still full of mysteries.

She made Boys and girls, men and women all over the world want to be wizards and witches. She wrote the Harry Potter series, rivaling Lord of the Rings as the number one fantasy series in the world.
David Beckham (1975)
Was Born in London. Beckham is a footballer, who is one of England’s most capped players. He won many domestic honors with Manchester United and Real Madrid. He is equally as famous off the pitch due to his show biz lifestyle with his wife Victoria Beckham.
Daniel Jacob Radcliffe (1989)
Daniel is an English actor who rose to prominence as the title character in the Harry Potter film series.
Queen Elizabeth II (1926)
Was Born in London, first daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. She ascended to the throne in 1952.
The second longest serving British monarch and she has been ruling over half a century of the Royal Family, Britain and the Commonwealth.

Great Britain is very rich with outstanding people and always was. There are lots of famous British musicians, sportsmen, scientists, writers, explorers and so on.
Isaac Newton was another great man in the world of science. This prominent Englishmen is considered to be a founder of physics. Many of the famous English men are buried in Westminster Abbey, in London.
Speaking about contemporary celebrities of Great Britain, it’s important to mention some well-known country leaders, such as Queen Elizabeth II, who has been a monarch of the country for almost 60 years by now. Another famous politician is the former leader of Labour Party and the 73rd Prime Minister of Great Britain, Tony Blair.
