Canada is a country in North America. It is the second largest country in the world.
The capital of Canada is Ottawa. The official languages of the country are English and French.
Population and Cities
The population of Canada is about 38 million people (2021).
Most of the population lives not far from the border with the United States. The largest cities of the country are Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
Toronto is an important economic centre of Canada and one of the safest cities in the world. It is the most populous city in Canada.
Montreal is the second largest city. There is only one official language in Montreal and it is French.
Vancouver is the third largest city of the country. It is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada.
Tourist Attractions in Canada
There are a lot of places worth visiting in this country.
Niagara Falls are probably the most famous waterfalls in the world. This scenic place attracts tourists from everywhere. It is located on the border between Canada and the United States.
There are a lot of national parks in Canada. They all represent different regions of the country and are protected. Banff is Canada’s oldest national park.

Canada’s flora is very diverse. There are broad-leaved, mixed and coniferous forests in Canada.
In the north of the country there is tundra which is followed by arctic desert.
Canada is inhabited by different animals. There are reindeer (also known as caribou in North America), opossums, beavers, polar bears and muskoxen in Canada. There are plenty of fishes in natural reservoirs of the country.

Canada is situated in the north part of Northern America. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, the Baffin Bay and the Davis Straight. It borders on the USA in the south and in the north. The population of the country is about 31 million people, 80 per cent of which live in towns and cities in the southern areas. Canada is the second largest country in the world after Russia. The territory of the country includes lots of islands, most known of which is the Canadian Arctic Islands. The capital of Canada is Ottawa.

There are two official languages in Canada: English and French. The last is spoken by 23 per cent of inhabitants. The majority of the people of the French origin live in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. They maintain their own culture and traditions.
Climate
The climate of the country varies from temperate in the south to subarctic and arctic in the north. Canada is geologically active, having many earthquakes and potentially active volcanoes, such as Mount Meager, Mount Garibaldi, Mount Cayley and the Mount Edziza volcanic complex.
System
Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories and is governed as parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy.
An industrial nation
Canada is an industrial nation with a highly developed science and technology sector. It has 18 Nobel Laureates in physics, chemistry and medicine. Canada is also one of the world’s largest suppliers of agricultural products such as wheat, canola and other grains. The country is a major source of natural resources: zinc, uranium, gold, aluminium and lead. Among the country’s main industries are automobiles and aeronautics, concentrated mostly in Ontario and Quebec.

Canada is the second largest country in the world. Only Russia has a greater land area. Canada is situated in North America. Canada is a federation of 10 provinces and 2 territories.

Ottawa is the capital of Canada and is located on the banks of the Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau rivers.One third of its people are French-speaking. Ottawa - Canada’s fourth-largest city is a complementary blend of urban and rural lifestyles, old and new neighborhoods, culture and heritage, business and government.
Canada occupies a major northern portion of North America, sharing land borders with the contiguous United States to the south and the U.S. state of Alaska to the northwest, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west; to the north lies the Arctic Ocean. By total area (including its waters), Canada is the second-largest country in the world—after Russia—and the largest on the continent.
Canada is slightly larger than the United States. About 28 million of people live in Canada. About 80% of the population live within 320 km of the southern border. Much of the rest of Canada is uninhabited or thinly populated because of severe natural conditions. Canada's people are varied. About 57% of all Canadians have some English ancestry and about 32% have some French ancestry. Native people – American Indians and Eskimos – make up about 2% of the country's population. 77% of Canada's people live in cities or towns.
Because of its vast size, Canada has more lakes than any other country. These lakes contain much of the world's fresh water. There are also fresh-water glaciers in the Canadian Rockies and the Coast Mountains.
Average winter and summer high temperatures across Canada vary according to the location. Winters can be harsh in many regions of the country, particularly in the interior and Prairie provinces, which experience a continental climate. In noncoastal regions, snow can cover the ground almost six months of the year
Canada is also geologically active, having many earthquakes and potentially active volcanoes, notably Mount Meager, Mount Garibaldi, Mount Cayley, and the Mount Edziza volcanic complex.

They are sometimes referred to as the "Third Coast" by some citizens of the United States. Because of their size, some regard them as inland seas.
The Niagara Falls
The Niagara Falls are voluminous waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling the international border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. The falls are 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York and 75 miles (120 km) south-southeast of Toronto, Ontario, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.

Canada is the second largest country in the world. Its territory stretches practically from the North Pole to the subtropical regions, from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. Along with the capital — Ottawa, the largest metropolitan areas are Montreal, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto. A large number of islands make up the Canadian territory, including Baffin’s Land, Victoria, Newfoundland and others.
Canada is a constitutional monarchy with strong democratic traditions. The Queen of Great Britain is recognized as the head of state, she is represented by the Governor-General. The state flag features a red maple leaf on a white background with red stripes on the sides. The combination of the two colors proclaims the unity of the British and French nations.
The population of this large country is 36 million people. In the country, two languages have an official status — English and French. English is the dominant language in all provinces with the exception of Quebec.
The climate varies depending on the region. In the coastal provinces, the climate is mostly temperate, with mild and rainy winters. Winters can be quite cold in some provinces of the country, but on the coast of British Columbia, and especially in Vancouver, winters are mild and rainy, and summers are hot.
Canada has more lakes than any other country in the world. It is here that such attractions as Niagara Falls and the Rocky Mountains are located. There are many places here that have not been touched by a human hand. These are numerous national parks with beautiful landscapes, hot mineral springs, lakes and waterfalls. Here you can meet black and brown bears, deer, bison and more than 100 species of birds.
The main attractions of the country also include the Canadian Parliament Building, Notre Dame de Montreal Basilica, St. Joseph’s Oratory, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Stanley Vancouver Park, Old Quebec, Frontenac Castle, Wood Buffalo National Park, Bay of Fundy, Great Lakes and others.
