They say big cities look pretty much the same: concrete and glass jungle. But anyone who has ever been to Kazan would never agree with that.
Kazan is very special city, truly multicultural. It is a place where Tatars and Russians live together. Both Tatar and Russian languages are widely spoken. Both Sunni Islam and Orthodox Christianity are practiced. In fact the list of ethnic groups and confessions is much longer.
That is why in Kazan one can discover such a variety of architecture styles. There are many beautiful temples and mosques, churches and monasteries. The Temple of All Religions is a unique embodiment of cultural diversity in one building.
But not only religious buildings are beautiful. Puppet Theatre, Palace of agriculture, Pyramid concert hall and many other architectural masterpieces attract tourists from all over the world.
Interesting feature of the city is public transport coloring: buses are red and trolleybuses are green. Kazan also has a subway. It was opened in 2005. Now there are 11 stations. Unlike buses and trolleybuses it has pretty typical coloring but nice tokens, which remind citizens that Kazan is over 1000 years old.
Another thing reminding of Kazan thousandth anniversary is 835 meters long Millennium Bridge with the 45-meter pylon which looks like the letter M.
Cultural diversity is expressed not only in architecture, but also in music and cuisine. There are a lot of cozy cafes and restaurants.
Besides, Kazan has great sports infrastructure. It hosts many international sports competitions.
One more great option for family weekend is visiting huge Riviera aquapark.
So, there are plenty reasons to visit the city at least once in your life.

Казань - особенный город, по-настоящему мульти-культурный. Здесь живут вместе татары и русские. Широко используются и татарский и русский языки. Исповедуется ислам суннитского толка и православное христианство. В действительности список этнических групп и конфессий гораздо длиннее.
Вот почему в Казани можно обнаружить такое разнообразие архитектурных стилей. Много красивых храмов и мечетей, церквей и монастырей. Храм всех религий - уникальное воплощение культурного разнообразия в одном здании.
Но красивы здесь не только религиозные сооружения. Кукольный театр, Дворец земледельцев, концертный зал Пирамида и другие архитектурные шедевры привлекают туристов со всего мира.
Интересная особенность города - это цвета городского транспорта: все автобусы красные, а трамваи зеленые. В Казани есть метро. Оно было открыто в 2005 году. Сейчас есть 11 станций. В отличие от автобусов и троллейбусов у метро типичная расцветка, зато симпатичные жетоны, напоминающие горожанам, что Казани более 1000 лет.
Также о тысячелетней годовщине Казани напоминает 835-метровый мост с 45-метровой опорой в форме буквы М.

If you like to travel, if you want to see beautiful and historical places and meet interesting people, you have to come to Kazan. This town is very old and has many interesting facts for guests. Honestly, I am sure, even its citizens don’t know everything about it.
My first meet with this fantastic town was 5 years ago, when I went with my parents to visit our friends. We arrived here very late and the weather was not so good. I could not see everything properly and didn’t really like that place. Next morning we went out and I have seen all this architecture and streets.
Well Kazan is a city of Russia, located in south-west on the banks of rivers Volga and Kazanka. Kazan is the capital of Republic of Tatarstan. The population of this city is 1,2 million of people. It’s actually one of the biggest cities in Russia.
The story of this town is very long and old. It was founded in 1005.
There are many historical places to see here. We didn’t succeed to visit everything. I hope one day I will come back here again.
So I advice you to visit Kazan Kremlin. It is located in the center of the city. There are many tourists here usually. This building is like a symbol of Kazan. I made few pictures there.
Other interesting places are Kul Sharif Mosque, Temple of all Religions, Riviera Aqua park. All these places are worth to visit. As for me, all these places can be symbols of Kazan. They are really unique and historical.
I also liked Bauman street a lot. This street is located in the heart of the city. You can walk here around the whole day.
I think I can talk about this city forever. Trip to Kazan was one small and interesting adventure for me. My advice is: don’t listen to me but go and visit this unforgettable city. I am sure you will fall in love with it.

Если вам нравится путешествовать, если вы хотите повидать красивые и исторические места и познакомиться с интересными людьми, вам нужно поехать в Казань. Этот город очень старый и расскажет гостям много интересных фактов. Честно говоря, я уверена, даже жители этого города не знают всех его тонкостей.
Моя первая встреча с этим фантастическим городом произошла 5 лет назад, когда я поехала с родителями в гости к друзьям. Мы прибыли в город очень поздно и погода была плохая. Я не смогла увидеть толком ничего и, честно говоря, город мне сразу не понравился. На следующее утро мы вышли на прогулку и я рассмотрела архитектуру и улицы.
Казань - это город в России, расположенный на юго-западе, на берегах реки Волга и Казанка. Казань- столица Республики Татарстан. Численность населения составляет 1,2 миллиона человек. Это один из самых больших городов России.
История города очень длинная и старая. Он был основан в 1005 году.
Там есть много исторических мест, чтобы посетить. Мы, конечно, так и не смогли увидеть все. Надеюсь, однажды я сюда снова вернусь.
Итак, в Казани я рекомендую вам посетить Кремль. Он расположен в центре города. Тут обычно гуляет много туристов. Это здание является своего рода символом города. Я сделала тут несколько снимков.
Другие интересные места в Казани- Кул Шариф, Храм всех религий, аква парк Ривьера. Все эти места достойны вашего внимания. Я считаю, что все эти места могут стать символом Казани. Ведь они по-настоящему уникальные и исторические. А ещё мне понравилась очень улица Баумана. Она расположена в самом центре города. Тут можно гулять целый день.
Кажется, я могу говорить об этом городе бесконечно. Поездка в Казань стала маленьким и интересным приключением для меня. Так что мой совет: не слушайте меня, а езжайте в этот незабываемый город. Уверена, что вы влюбитесь в него.
Welcome to Kazan, one of the most beautiful cities of our country! We are proud of our capital!
Kazan is one of the oldest cities in the Volga region. It is a thousand-year-old city with rich and unique history. It was founded in 1005.
One of the most important sights of our capital is The Kazan Kremlin. It was built on behest of Ivan the Terrible on the ruins of the former castle of Kazan khans . Kul-Sharif mosque was built in t he Kazan Kremlin in the 16th century. Besides the main mosque building it includes a library, publishing house and Imam's office.
Presidential Palace in Kazan was built in 1845-1848. Today it is a residence of the President of Tatarstan. Building of Kazan City Hall is situated in the centre of the city. The most meaningful events take place here.
Kazan was announced to be a capital of The World Student Games of 2013. Mission of these games is to gather young sportsmen from all over the world in the city with unique multinational heritage.
Thanks to World Student Games the capital of Tatarstan will becomethe center of attention of the world community and one of the largest centers of tourism and sport industry of Russia.
Kazan has many different sport facilities and sports complexes. Busket Hall is the largest basketball sports complex which was opened in 2002. Palace of Martial Arts Ak Bars is a sport facility on the base of which competitions of Student Games will be held.
Palace of Sport in Kazan is one of the most beautiful sport facilities in the city. It is situated in the centre of Kazan. Kazan School of Olympic Reserves has already prepared more than twenty masters of sports and two hundred sixteen winners of Russian competitions on different kinds of sport.
Living or staying in Kazan, you can visit such sports complexes as Akbure and Vatan, Kazan Academy of Tennis and ice palace Tataneft Arena.
