1. What is a board game? – It is a game which people play by moving small objects around on a board.
2. Do you know any board games? – They are lotto, Monopoly, Scrabble, Cluedo, chess, draughts ([dra:fts] – шашки).

Информация для учащихся
1) Cluedo k l u ː d o ʊ ] — настольная игра для трёх-шести человек, в ходе которой имитируется расследование убийства. Игровое поле представляет собой план загородного особняка, в котором произошло преступление. Необходимо выяснить кто, где и чем убил хозяина дома — доктора Блэка. Под подозрением находится каждый гость особняка — игрок.
2) Монополия - это настольная игра в торговлю (купля-продажа собственности, оплата ренты) с экономическим и стратегическим уклоном, суть которой - завладеть как можно большим количеством участков (улицы, жд, коммунальные предприятия и т.д.). Играть можно как в узком кругу, так и большой компанией, поскольку она рассчитана на 2-6 человек.

Aim: to remove all the opponent’s pieces or block the opponent’s moving. ( чтобы удалить все фигуры противника или заблокировать движение противника ).
Number of players: two opponents play on the opposite sides of the game board.
How to play it: players take turns. Pieces move diagonally to an adjacent square. ( Фигуры перемещаются по диагонали на соседний квадрат ). Players only use dark squares of the board .
Draughts is a very popular game in our country. Two opponents play on the opposite sides of the game board. One player has 12 dark pieces, the other player has 12 light pieces. The aim is to remove all the opponent’s pieces or block the opponent’s moving. Players take turns. Pieces move diagonally to an adjacent unoccupied square. If the square has an opponent’s piece, the piece may be captured (and removed from the game) by jumping over it. Players only use dark squares of the board. The player without pieces or whose pieces are blocked loses the game.

У одного за другим, у игроков кончаются деньги, и последний игрок становится победителем.
Сегодня, монополия является самой продаваемой настольной игрой в мире с продажами более 200млн. наборов игры в 80 странах. Игра действительно очень интересная. Вот почему, я тоже играю в неё со своими друзьями.
Sport and hobbies play very important roles in our life. Sometime we want to forget about our problems and to do the things we like. Some people like to do sports, somebody watches sports. But there are some things where you can relax and to practice your brains at the same time. Chess will help you with it.
Chess is a kind of sports. It’s little bit strange because we got used that sports are football, volleyball, basketball and other active games. Chess is completely different game but it needs a lot of efforts as well.
Chess is a board game for two players. There is a checkered board with 64 squares and a player has to move the chess figures. It may seem easy but in reality you need tactics and strategy if you want to win.
History says that first chess were invented in 6-th century. The real game was one Indian game chaturanga and later on chess came to our world. If football and basketball are the active games, chess is mind sport and abstract strategy game.
I have never played chess but my father is a champion in it in our family. I hope one day I will be as good as he is. He says that chess develop our brains and help to keep it sharp. I am agree with him because while playing chess you have to think few steps ahead and change the strategy if you are losing the figures.
One game usually lasts 10-15 minutes. If your partner is strong the game can last up to 60 minutes. There is no chance to play the game if you don’t know the rules and don’t understand how to play. To learn it you need time and good memory.
Each player has 16 pieces. They are 1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops and 8 pawns. Each piece moves differently. The most powerful is the Queen, the least powerful is the pawn. That’s all I know. But soon I will learn and I hope to be better than my father. It’s a good kind of sport, nice hobby and very useful game.

Спорт и хобби играют важную роль в нашей жизни. Порой нам хочется забыть о своих проблемах и заняться любимым делом. Многие люди начинают заниматься спортом, а кто-то смотрит спортивные игры. Но есть такие занятия, благодаря которым ты сможешь отдохнуть и потренировать свои мозги одновременно. И в этом тебе помогут шахматы.
Шахматы - это спортивная игра. Конечно, заучит немного странно, ведь мы привыкли, что спорт - это обычно футбол, волейбол, баскетбол и другие активные игры. А шахматы - это совершенно другая игра, в которой тоже требуются определенные усилия.
Шахматы - это настольная игра для двух игроков. Перед игроком лежит шахматная доска с 64 квадратами, а игрок должен передвигать шахматные фигуры по очереди. На первый взгляд это может показаться легко, но на самом деле вам понадобится тактика и стратегии, чтобы выиграть партию.
Игра длится обычно около 10-15 минут. А если партнёр довольно силён, то играть можно и 60 минут партию. А вот если ты не знаешь условия, то играть бесполезно. Чтобы научиться играть, нужна хорошая память и время.
У каждого игрока есть 16 фигур. Это король, ферзь, 2 ладьи, 2 слона, 2 коня и 8 пешек. Каждая фигура движется по-своему. Самая сильная фигура - ферзь, а самая слабая- пешка. Вот и все, что я знаю. Но скоро я выучу остальные правила и стану играть лучше папы. Это отличный вид спорта, интересное хобби и очень полезная игра.
Предлагается проектная работа учащихся 9 класса по созданию настольной игры с целью повышения мотивации обучающихся английскому языку на разном этапе обучения.
Игра направлена на отработку лексичесих единиц.
Project - Board Game “Galaxy”
Learn and play in an easy way.
The aim of this project is to make the process of learning words easy and more productive.
Everyone needs to learn words of foreign language and often people do it in a traditional way-memorizing. It’s boring and it takes too much time. We can offer an alternative way.
Our project is directed to develop language skills, to improve vocabulary, to revise words in a pleasant and entertaining way. It increases motivation to learning language by social comparison because of split levels of word-cards, developing communicative skills. This game is created for people of different ages and different levels of education.
5. The rules of the game.
You need 4 – 12 players (2players in each team)
6. 1) Playing field
put the chips on the start
choose the team to start the game
choose a person to start the game first
pull a card from the first level ( one star – the 1 st level, two stars – the 2 nd , three stars – the 3d level)
act, draw or explain the words on a card for 2minutes.
1-3 guessed words - one step forward
4-5 words – two steps further
no answer – go one step back or miss a turn (if you’re staying on a start).
The playing field consists of planets and stars. If you are staying on a planet or on a start, take a noun card. If you are on a star, take a verb card and show the action. (assessment criteria are the same as with nouns)

Каждому приходиться учить слова иностранного языка и часто люди делают это традиционным способом – заучиванием. Это скучно и требует слишком много времени. Мы можем предложить альтернативный вариант.
Наш проект направлен на развитие языковых навыков, улучшение словарного запаса, повторение слов в приятной и развлекательной форме. Это повышает мотивацию к изучению языка посредством разноуровневости карточек, развивая коммуникативные навыки. Эта игра создана для людей с разным возрастом и уровнем знаний.
Вам понадобиться 4-12 человек (по 2 человека команде)
Карточки со словами
Поставьте фишки на старт
Выберете команду, которая начнёт игру
Пусть та команда, которая начинает выберет человека, который начнёт объяснять первый
Вытягивает карточку. Начните с первого уровня (одна звезда- первый уровень, две звезды- второй уровень, три звезды-третий уровень)
Покажи, нарисуй или объясни слова на карточке за 2 минуты
1-3 объяснённых слов это один шаг вперёд
4-5 объяснённых слов это 2 шага вперёд
Если вы не объяснили ни одного слова, вы идете назад или пропускаете ход (если вы стояли на старте)
Игровое поле состоит из планет и звезд. Если вы стоите на старте или на планете вы должны вытянуть карточку с существительными, но если вы стоите на звезде, то вы должны вытянуть карточку с глаголами и показать своему члену команды это действие без слов. (критерии оценивания такие же как с существительным).
