Оборудование: географическая карта, глобус, раздаточный материал.

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент

(Учитель приветствует группу, объявляет тему и цели урока)

– Hello, boys and girls. How are you?

There are many guests at our lesson. Do you know the topic for today’s lesson? I’ll read you a passage of a poem; you have to listen to it carefully and try to guess the topic of the lesson.

The earth is a garden,
It’s a beautiful place

– So, what’s the topic of the lesson?

Pupil 1: Our planet.

Pupil 2: The Earth.

Pupil 3: The world.

– Right you are. Today you’ll read the text “Countries and Continents” to get the details of it, then you’ll refresh the names of some countries, their capitals, languages, nationalities and sightseeings.

Today we’ll take new lexis theme and do a lot of exercises and tasks.

    Right you are! Today we’ll speak about continents and countries.

    Look at the blackboard, please. Here you can see a poem. What about this poem?

    The planet we live on is the Earth.

    The Earth is round.

    If you look at the Earth from space

    You will be able to see land, seas, oceans, continents and even countries.

    Subject: Continents and Countries

    Aim : by the end of the lesson pupils will be able to make a flag of a certain country and to present it to the class.

    Objectives: 1. to revise the lexics on the topic;

    2. to practise in video comprehension;

    3. to practise to present the flags;

    4. to get acquainted with safety rules.

    Equipment: PC, board, coloured paper, coloured pencils, scissors, glue, scotch.

    The Course of the Lesson

    I. Organisational part (slide 1,2) 5 min.

    Today we are having our usual creative workshop. Be sure you have got all the necessary things on your desks to do your work. Show me your color paper, scissors, glue, scotch, pencils. What do you think we are going to make? (the p-s answer the question). - That’s right! We’ll make flags of different countries.

    II. Revision (Theoretical part). 7 min.

    1. First of all let’s remember: what is a flag? (p-s: it’s one of the main symbols of a country); what does any flag have? (p-s: colors, elements); what colors and elements can there be on the flag. (p-s continue filling in the cluster, slide3).

    2. Look at the flags and say – what country it is and on which continent it is situated, for example: this is the flag of the UK, which is situated in Europe… (slide4).

    3. Look at your color paper and elements and guess - what flag you’ll make (the p-s name their countries).

    III. Practical part (Modelling). 10 min.

    1. Now let us see how to make a model of a flag. All of you have got white sheets of paper which are the basis of your flag, and some patterns on your color paper. First, you cut out the patterns. Then, you glue them on the basis (slide 5).

    2. Before you start your work you should remember some Safety Rules: Be careful with scissors, don’t cut yourself! Be careful with glue, don’t touch your face and eyes with it! (slide 6).

    3. You have 10 minutes to do your work ( the p-s make the models of the flags and show them). The flags are ready.

    IV. Physical Exercise. 3 min.

    Are you tired? Well, it’s time to relax. Let’s do some exercises (slide 7).

    V. Presentation of the Flags . 10 min.

    The p-s make up short dialogues, representing their countries and then attach the flags to the map of the world (slide 8,9).

    VI. The Result of the Lesson . 1 min.

    Good work, kids! I like it, and you? Do you agree that everything is correct? Which flag is the best in your opinion?

    VII. Reflexion. 4 min.
