People began to speak many centuries ago, and since then they have been speaking different languages. Every language reflects the soul, behavior and temperament of each nationality. Peoples created their own alphabets and rules, but they always wanted to communicate with each other, to understand and to know more about each other.
Languages help people to understand each other better, they help them to solve different economic and political problems, which stands before them, and so people learn foreign languages.
All languages are different. Some are very hard, some are easier, some are similar, but there are no identical languages in the whole world. There are more than 2,700 languages in the world. Many of them are "alive" because people use them, but there are some "dead" languages, for example Latin.
Two thousands years ago, Latin was the world's most important international language. Today this title belongs to English. It's a global language of travel, business, pop culture, sport and science.
Over one billion people speak English. That's almost one fifth of the world's population. For over 450 million it's their first language. For the other 600 million it's either a second language or a foreign language.
Today, in fact, over 300 million people are learning English. That's more than the population of the USA.
The average person in Britain has a vocabulary of between 10,000 and 15,000 words. In his plays William Shakespeare used a vocabulary of about 30,000 words. Shakespeare was born over 400 years ago. At that time, only six or seven million people spoke English.
Now English is spoken practically all over the world, it has become the world's most important language in politics, science, trade and cultural relations. It is spoken as a mother tongue in Great Britain, the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Besides, a lot of people speak English in Japan, India, China, Africa and many other countries. English is one of the official languages of the United Nation Organisation. Half of the world's scientific literature is in English. It is the language of computer technology.
To my mind English is worth studying. There is a proverb: "A new language is a new world". "Knowledge is a power", one great man said. Speaking a foreign language one can not only read the papers, magazines and original books by outstanding writers, but as well watch satellite programs, travel easily to different parts of the world. Besides, understanding and speaking a foreign language became necessary while applying for a good and well-paid job.
Now I know that it is a must for XXI century professional no matter what job to choose. The world is getting smaller and international connections tighter. A lot of foreign delegations keep coming to our country, hundreds of joint ventures have appeared in every city of our country recently. So without doubt you can't do without learning this beautiful language.

Люди начали говорить много столетий назад, и с тех пор они говорили на различных языках. Каждый язык отражает душу, манеры и характер каждой национальности. Народы создавали свой собственный алфавит и правила, но они всегда хотели общаться друг с другом, понимать и знать больше друг о друге.
Языки помогают людям понимать друг друга лучше, они помогают им решать различные экономические и политические проблемы, которые стоят перед ними, и поэтому люди изучают иностранные языки.

Много иностранных делегаций продолжают прибывать в нашу страну, сотни совместных предприятий появились в каждом городе нашей страны за последнее время. In our days English is an international language. It is widespread almost in all developed countries. So, I think everyone should learn English, because it’s very important. But learning English if you’re a growing-up is difficult: you don’t have time for it because of your job, you can’t make yourself to study etc. That’s why children must learn English from a young age. There are, however, both pros and cons to this complicated issue.
From one side, there are many reasons why it’s better to learn English from young age. All skills are formed better in a young age: pronunciation, grammar skills and lexicon. Children are much better get new knowledge. Moreover, the teacher can make learning English not only useful, but interesting. Also, having another language when they leave school will be an incredible advantage in the job market. So, English is very useful in the life.
But from other side, children are children. It is necessary to take into account their age and to control the load. You can’t load the children too much - it would entail chronic fatigue and aversion to knowledge. Also, many people believe that children need first to focus on the important subjects such as mathematics, reading and writing.
In conclusion, I want to say that I agree with both sides. Education of children - is very thin and delicate thing, and we need to approach it with responsibility.

In our world there are many newspapers. There are newspapers of certain themes, but most of them are informational. Now they are rarely black-and-white, as they used to be. Modern newspapers are bright, attention grabbing and colorful. But there are advantages and disadvantages of newspapers.
Newspapers are useful and cheap. They are available almost for everyone. You may read a newspaper in the places that are comfortable for you. Reading you can understand news deeper. Also, old people prefer to use paper media not television or internet, because modern gadgets are hard for their minds.
In other side people cut down many trees for doing paper. Also in our days there are lots of useless, silly newspapers. We may get information from others sources: television, internet and radio. Television can show real movies of happened developments. In internet you can find news from all over the world.
I think there are lots of advantages and disadvantages of newspapers. But on this question of necessity of newspapers there is no a single answer.

Is it a good idea for teenagers to learn English from a young age? In my opinion, teenagers, who learn a foreign language, gain some important skills, which can be used in adult life, for example they will train their memory, enhance their vocabulary.
This opinion has several advantages. Firstly, when a child learn English from a young age, he or she will fluently speak, read and understand texts, which helps him with learning language at secondary school and at the university. Secondly, a child, who have to learn English earlier then his or her classmates, can probably try speaking to a foreigner, because it is always interesting to know traditions, stories about another country.
On the other hand, some people consider, that children who have to learn English, cannot remember spelling, grammatik, because they too young to do this. They want to play games with their friends, but not to study.
To conclude, the way I see it, teenagers should learn a foreign language. He or she learns speaking, writing, so that he or she can go traveling and improve their skills by speaking to the locals. Why not to learn some important life skill at the early age?

To begin with, newspapers are very useful for people, who live in villages. Most people do not have radio, so newspapers for them are the only source of news.
However, there are some disadvantages. In the first place is that newspaper production needs a lot of paper, so it needs to cut down too many trees. The second point is that we will not know what happened in world until we open and read news in newspaper. It is very hard to know useful news, for example drivers will have to be stuck in traffic, because they do not hear the news about car accident.
To conclude, the way I see it, we should develop not only newspaper news, but radio and internet news too. So, people will know what happened in the world and they do not have to find newspaper stall and buy a ton of paper.

English in my future profession
Nowadays English is considered the international language, it certainly can come in handy in my life and in my future career. I decided to choose such profession as a journalist. English is the main part of the work of a journalist. With good knowledge of English I would feel more confident in my work.
Now I would like to express my point of view on the problem of learning foreign languages. For a journalist often communicated with foreigners, English would be necessary. Especially, when the interviewer feels comfortable himself during the communication and there are no any bounds. The journalist often travels around the world collecting information, it is important to be able to adapt quickly and to communicate with citizens without any constraint or difficulties, not knowing the language is a huge obstacle. He needed at international conferences, congresses and festivals, and when visiting such events, it would be important to feel this atmosphere.
It is a well-known fact that the journalist must be able to transmit information without difficulty, to convey it to the listener. I will have the opportunity to translate articles without too much fuss. English contributes to the professional development and career growth. Knowing the language is more marketable as an employee, but have a good knowledge of English is more important, I can work abroad. And if I want to reach the international level, without English it is impossible. Journalist needs to be able to convey his thoughts and feelings clearly.
In addition, the English language contributes to personal development, expanding horizons. English is now an important part of this world, it promotes communication between citizens of different countries. English opens all new possibilities. It must be taught in order to discover great prospects.

We live in a world in which many people communicate with each other in English. Nowadays, English is very popular all over the world. Every year it is gaining popularity and becoming more frequently used. There are many professions related to the use of English, for example, a linguist or an interpreter.
The first thing that needs to be said is that English appeared three years ago in my life. I forced to learn German, but I liked English more. I enjoy studying English! Learning this language helps people to develop better and find new friends.
Another good thing about English in the future is that it will be very useful to me, even if it will not be a part of my profession. After finishing school I want to go to the philological faculty. If in my future I will be a philologist, foreign languages will be very useful to me. With the help of English many opportunities will open up to me, for example, during practice I can go to another country and get a lot of experience, learn a lot of new things.
What is more English will be useful not only in my future profession, but also in my hobby. Since my childhood I really love to sing. I've been singing since I was five. Thanks to the English language, I can sing not only Russian songs, but also songs in English.
In a word, English is very important in our life and in our future career. Therefore, learning English is essential in today’s Global World. If a person wants to succeed in his chosen field he has to know English, so start to improve your English as soon as possible.
I think that English will gain popularity every year, because to study it, it's very interesting!

I'm in the tenth grade and already think about the choice of my career. As we know there are many professions in the world and all of them are necessary and important. Among them I chose the profession of journalist. For mastering this profession requires knowledge of Russian language, literature, history, social studies and English, of course.
The first thing that needs to be said is that I like to write notes in the newspapers about places I have visited. For example, I wrote a note about my trip to St. Petersburg for a competition. Besides, I gave an interview about my travelling to camp "Artek" in the Crimea. It is undeniable that the journalist illumines the real events happening in the country and in the world. This profession is interesting to me because journalist can travel round the world in search of interesting facts, to communicate with people from different countries.
Moreover it is necessary to have the knowledge of foreign languages, especially English. It is the most widely spoken language in the world. It is important that journalist can fluent in the language, especially in its spoken forms. The journalist must know the grammar, the syntax, and how to write articles in Russian and in English correctly.
One cannot deny that the journalist should be honest, competent on many issues of politics, economy and culture. I have the most concern to light cultural events and achievements of science. In my opinion these subjects are given very insufficient attention. I would like to create my own author's program on television. Personally I believe that it'll be represented in Russia and abroad.
Taking everything into consideration, I can say that the profession of a journalist requires a lot of knowledge and practical skills. English is an integral part of this profession. Every self-respecting journalist should know a foreign language in order his articles and reports might heard and read everyone all over the world.

It is undeniable that English plays a huge role in the life of a person who is striving for the successful development of his career. The most widely spread language on the planet is English, spoken by five countries: Great Britain, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
Everyone knows that to get a good profession you need to know English. For example, a guide, a wonderful, creative profession, is in great demand in the world. Many tourist groups of people from different English-speaking countries come to Russia and are involved in the culture of Russia and often use the service of a guide. Outside of our country, Russians who visit English-speaking countries also need a guide. Russian people often visit distant corners of the planet, learning about culture, everyday life and many other interesting things with the help of a guide.
What is more this profession is for sociable, inquisitive people who want to communicate with interesting people from other countries. For the profession of a guide, excellent knowledge of English broad outlook, good speech, ability of the organizer, love of art, ability to interest customers, good friendly relations with different people are required.
Thus, English is a very popular language in our time, as different programs on the computer are made in this language, various instructions are written for technology, furniture and many other things. Every well-educated person should be able to speak English, it is the language of communication, business, culture and science. English lessons at my school are very interesting because I can learn a lot of words that will help me in my future profession. Let's learn English together!
I think, nowadays it is very important to know foreign languages. Some people learn languages, because they need them for their work, others travel abroad, for the third it`s just a hobby. People want to know languages, to write to their pen-friends or to communicate with people from different countries, to meet more people and make new friends. Also, they want to read books of famous writers in original, to read newspapers and magazines. It helps them to know more about different events, people`s life, customs and traditions.
Learning foreign languages broadens our minds, people become educated. In my opinion, languages are especially important for those who work in different fields of science and technology, in politics. A foreign language helps to know the native language better. People, who know many languages are called polyglots. We know the names of some of them: German professor Shlimman, famous writer Shakespeare, philosopher Socrates and many others.
Nowadays, English has become an international language. Over 300 million people speak it as a mother tongue. As for me, I learn English from 7 years age. This language helps me very much, to speak free with people from all over the world, make new friends and participate in international contests.
I like one proverb of Johann Goethe:" He who does not know foreign languages does not know anything about his own." I speak Ukranian, Russian, English, a little Italian and Spanish. And I`m very proud of it, because languages-it`s my second life. Also, I would like to learn Germany, French and Serbian, but this year I dedicate myself to learning Italian. You know, dream from my childhood - to be an an interpreter and I`m sure, I get it.
Personally, I think that to know foreign languages today is absolutely necessary for every educated man, for every good specialist. So let`s to learn foreign languages and discover with them many interesting things in our life!

Я думаю, в наше время, это очень важно знать иностранные языки. Некоторые люди учат языки, потому что они им нужны для роботы, другим путешествовать за границу, и для третьих это просто хобби. Люди хотят знать языки, писать друзьям по переписке или общаться с людьми с разных стран, встретить больше новых людей и завести друзей. К тому же, они хотят читать книги известных писателей в оригинале, читать газеты и журналы. Это помогает им узнавать больше о разных событиях, жизни людей, обычаях и традиций.
Изучение иностранных языков расширяет наш кругозор, люди становятся более образованными. На мой взгляд, языки особенно важны для тех, кто работает в разных сферах науки и технологии, политики. Иностранный язык помогает узнать родной язык лучше. Люди, которые знают много языков - полиглоты. Мы знаем некоторые имена полиглотов: немецкий профессор Шлимман, известный писатель Шекспир, философ Сократ и много других.
В наши дни, английский стал международным языком. Около 300 миллионов людей говорят на нем, как на родном языке. Что касается меня, я учу английский с 7 лет. Этот язык очень мне помогает, говорить свободно с людьми со всего мира, заводить новых друзей и принимать участие в международных конкурсах.
Мне нравиться одна пословица Йогана Гете: "Тот, кто не знает иностранных языков, не знает ничего про свой родной язык". Я разговариваю на украинском, русском, английском, немного на итальянском и испанском. И я очень горжусь этим, потому что языки - это моя вторая жизнь. Также, я бы хотела выучить немецкий, французский и сербский, но в этом году я посвящаю себя изучению итальянского. Вы знаете, мечта моего детства - быть переводчиком и я уверенна я буду.
Лично я думаю, что знать иностранные языки сегодня это абсолютно необходимо для каждого образованного человека, для каждого хорошого специалиста. Поэтому, давайте учить иностранные языки и открывать с ними много интересных вещей в нашей жизни!
