Как и другие цикличные виды, греблю куда удобнее смотреть по телевизору. В реальности несколько часов ожидания могут обернуться неторопливым появлением экипажей из-за поворота, в лучшем случае – минутой на ваших глазах, когда можно от души покричать и помахать самодельными флагами, и, после того, как лодки скроются за следующим изгибом реки, устремиться к близлежащему экрану, чтобы досмотреть финиш. С одной стороны – и правда, гораздо комфортнее изначально обосноваться на диване и следить за всем ходом гонки с десяти разных планов. Но с другой, когда на паре квадратных километров собирается едва ли не 1/15 часть Лондона, остаться дома у телевизора совершенно непозволительно.
Под финал оксфордские клубы по традиции бросили в Темзу своих рулевых, получили на подиуме кубки и бутылки шампанского и в целом чувствовали себя рок-звездами или, на крайний случай, Льюисом Хэмилтоном.На празднования легко можно позволить себе отвести всю неделю: после пасхальных каникул университеты приступят к учебе только в 20-х числах апреля. А затем можно начинать готовиться к следующему году: и уже сейчас можно утверждать, что четверть миллиона лондонцев все так же придет посмотреть на гонку-2016.
