Metro is the best transport in the world. If I had a chance I would travel only by metro. It is fast, always warm and no traffic. Unfortunately the bigger city is the more complicated metro it has.
Moscow is a huge city. And metro there is really big and complicated. People who come here for the first time don’t know how they supposed to move. And I understand them.
Moscow metro is a rapid transit system serving Moscow and the neighbor Moscow region towns. It was opened in May 15 in 1935. First line was 11 kilometers and it had 13 stations. Moscow metro was the first underground transport in the Soviet Union. The architect of the underground is Ivan Fomin. Today Moscow metro has 17 underground lines. So you can travel all around Moscow more or less fast.
On internet we can find the number of people per day and per year metro serving. And I can say these numbers are huge. People today prefer metro to cars, buses and other transport. It is really more comfortable. Sometimes you have to travel 1-2 hours by metro. So this time you can spend reading a book, listening to music, planing your next day or sleeping.
Today Moscow metro has 236 stations. Local people have a map or they use their phones to check the itinerary, because nobody can remember all lines and stations. Every line has different color. So it is much easier to understand and to explain how to get from one point to another.
For my relatives it’s always difficult to travel by Moscow metro. And I could travel so every day.
